Follow up after one year

Written on Nov 04, 2019

I wanted to add a follow up, after almost 1000 rounds varying M855 and M193 of use and VERY little cleaning. (To see if I could get the gun to fail) I've had zero operating issues and the barrel is now shooting even tighter groups. I'm a believer in BSF, going to make an AR pistol with one of their barrels. Don't be scared away from BSF by them being new, they are the real deal...

Great .223 wylde barrel.

Written on Jul 28, 2019

Bought this barrel to pair with a custom blue anodized F-1 Chassis for an ultralight 18" build. The rifle with a MFT Minimalist stock, Geissele Super 42 Buffer w/mil spec tube, Magpul MOE+ Grip, F-1 Rose Gold BCG, F-1 Rose Gold Angle faced break, SLR low profile block and POF 3.5lb skeletonized trigger it weighs in at 5.9lbs.. Eats one hole at 100 all day with M193's. At 200 its still grouping sub MOA and only after SEVERE abuse do I get a stray.. I chose the fluted version and its ability to wick away heat so quickly is pretty interesting. I was for all intents and purposes going to use a Proof barrel, but for some reason I felt like trying BSF, glad I did.. I chose a blue one to match the blue chassis. It stops everyone at the range, if that matters to you...

Huge rear glass

Written on Mar 03, 2019

This sight has been great so far. Tracks very well and the adjustment turrets have decent click/feel. The traits I like about the Bravo 4 are: Rear glass size, its HUGE, once your in the sight box its like using nothing, its just a 4x eyeball built into your head. Reticle is very crisp and the illumination is great. Battery life is excellent as well. Low light conditions are no problem as well. It looks pretty cool though, it's odd looking on many firearms. Let's be honest though you don't really buy stuff like this for looks. The bad: It's pretty heavy and large. The eye relief is pretty short and it will hit your glasses if you aren't ready for recoil. The mounting base is ok, but, in no way a "quick" release. All said, at the end of the shoot, I really enjoy using this optic on my 18" F-1 Firearms lightweight build. As the rifle is light enough that the scope adds negligible weight. If you are looking for a nice ACOG alt with excellent clarity, great reticle, ease of use and a MASSIVE rear objective this is a good one...

F-1 Durabolt in Rosegold

Written on Oct 23, 2018

I have a few different brands of AR platform rifles and carbines. I like all of them, and all of them function very well. The weapon I have this bolt carrier group in is also an F-1 chassis so it seemed logical to put an F-1 bolt into it. Well logic be damned. I will now put their BCG’s into all of my AR platforms. This BCG is amazing and so is it’s PVD coating. Cleanup is a breeze just wipe it off with a rag. Carbon build up also comes smooth off with little effort. The coatings F-1 offers are not only beautiful but have a function. The rose gold coating as well as the DLC, Gold and Silver PVD all have very low friction coefficients. That translates into using little to no oil for perfect function. It’s coating is also harder than standard DD steel so it cuts into anything it hits and doesn’t scratch up at all. If you want a great BCG that looks good and is very reliable look at F-1, you will not be disappointed!

A great thermal sight for cheap

Written on Oct 21, 2018

Ok, to answer some questions some of you may have. 1 the Echo 1B is a blem unit meaning it’s brand new unused but had a scratch or blem on the body. It doesn’t have the cables or the mount or the cover. Who cares, you just saved over a g! Now, the sight itself is pretty good for what it is. It will give a very clear image of anything further than 20ft and less than 300 yards. If you try to use it close up you will be disappointed, it’s not meant for close up tracking. You can see hog sized animals pretty clearly out to about 800 yards before they all kind of wash out. All in all if you want thermal and you don’t want to drop $1,800 or more this is your option. It’s not the greatest, but, it is cheap and it does what Sig says it will. Also, it will work outside in the day. You have to be deliberate in targeting and use the correct image setting so your eyes can make out what you’re looking at. Hope this helps, no one seems to have much on Sigs stuff. Third electro optic product. Couldn’t be happier! Just ordered a Bravo 4 as well!

Best Charging handle period

Written on Oct 16, 2018

This Radian Charging handle is the best one I've found so far at actually being functional. It's vented gas relief helps when the rifle is suppressed or even when not I have noticed a change of how much gas I feel in my eyes or on my face (there is always some). It's easily gripped on either side with or without gloves. It's build quality is bar none and super good looking as well. If you are looking for the best AMBI charging handle you can get: THIS IS IT. I have one on every platform that will accept it.
