The Vortex optic is great. I have taken it to the range multiple times and it never loses its zero even when the AR-15 mount that comes with it comes lose. The only problem with this setup is that the AR-15 mount does not stay tight. It keeps coming lose I might just have to put silicone on it or something to fix the problem.
Hi all, if you are from California this Mag is not a good idea. Instead of drilling a hole and sticking something in it so it becomes a 30 round mag, they decided to crimp it. That means if I move to another state I will be unable to use the mag as a 30 round mag. I am assuming they did this to save money. If you are in a free state go ahead and buy it since they won't crimp it. Again, if you are from California or any other commie states do not buy it, they will crimp it.
Hi, as most of you know here in California we need to ether have a featureless ar-15 or a locked mag Ar-15. I bought the compMag because I wanted to keep all of my legal features on my AR-15. I followed the instructions, they ask that we do not do more than a certain amount of turns on the screw. I did the max amount of turns on that screw. I was still able to pull the darn Magazine off, even with the little pin. If I as someone who can't even work out can take the mag out imagine what a cop who works out will do to me or anyone who has this mag if they take it out with their beast strength. I do not recommend this. The only way that I see this working would be if some how a metal plate or something that wont break easily is inserted between the top of the mag and the lower along with a screw and pin that can't come off unless the upper and lower are taken apart.
I just installed it on my AR -15. I like the way it looks and feels on it. I also like the way that I can move it on my featureless rifle. I have tried other ambidextrous safety switches and they do not compare. From what I understand, this part breaks down over time. I will have to come back and do an updated review in a year or so. That way I can tell you all how it held up. If it holds up like a champ I will give it the full 5 stars.
I have a AR 15 with at muzzle brake and this does not work. It moves too much it is not accurate at all. It would be nice it it had something to keep it in the barrel so it would not move around. I wouldn't recommend it.
While it is a good idea to have a sight system that goes up quickly, the fact is that the part that connects to the railing system is one part. That is not good. Also everything is made out of plastic (hard plastic). The front sights move a little even when the piece is screwed down. The back sights windage adjuster is hard to move. I had to use a screwdriver. In order to change from the smaller hole to the bigger hole i had to use a screwdriver(windage). It is a good idea with bad material/ railing.
I just installed it, it works great. It works better than the part the weapon system comes with. It is easy to use. It doesnt get in the way the trigger and finger. Now the real challenge will be testing it out. Specially since 5.56 and .223 are harder to find than the oak island treasure.
