Helps your optic but has downsides

Written on Jul 29, 2020

I just put this on my x95 and Ill start with the pros:

PROS:
* It definitely helps by raising your optic.
* Fits perfectly and craftsmanship is top notch.
* Looks cool, too

CONS:
* This rail leaves a big gap on the top of the barrel that needs to be filled in.
* You loose the integrated hard sights on the weapon!

Im extremely torn on this item. It does fix the problem of the optic being too low, which is why I bought it, but loosing the iron sights and having to fill the gap is extremely disappointing. I have an Aimpoint and will call the company to see if they make risers for their red dots. At the end of the day, I would probably buy this again because the scopes on the Tavors do sit VERY low.

New to night scopes but this seems worth it.

Written on Dec 03, 2015

I have absolutely no familiarity with night scopes and I started to do research when I had the need for one. I have raccoons, skunks and possum in my back yard and wanted to pair a night scopes with a high end .22 pellet gun (RSW 48).

The scope is very solid and feels very durable. The illuminator that comes with the scope has 2 adjustments (intensity and spread) and pairs with it perfectly. The scope has 2 focus dials and requires th cr123 battery. I had a difficult time focusing the scope and thought I had a problem with it until I used both focus knobs AND adjusted the illuminator. I will probably be shooting at relatively close distances, anywhere between 10 to 50 yards, and getting the scope focused was a problem. However, once I figured it out I got it focused and was pleasantly surprised how great the field of view is and how bright it is. The rubber eye piece looks cool but isn't functional for me. It didn't line up with my eye and I found myself pushing my head in a weird position to accommodate the eye piece. I found it easier to simply remove it and use the scope without it. Aside from each the initial focusing issues, the only real complaint is weight. My rifle and scope together are HEAVY, but I guess I'll have to deal with it because of the exceptional equipment I have.

There are many warnings regarding using the scope in daylight or pointing the scope at bright light sources. I bought it specifically for night hunting, so for me, this isn't an issue. I would
