This thing is awesome. I like oddball optics, some work, others not so much, this thing works!!! It's pretty cool to not have to switch from 1x to 6x manually like a normal scope. With this, you just move your eye, not your head and dont break contact with the rifle. I'm suprised the military doesnt use these, as you could definitely see the way it speeds up your shooting from low mag to higher, while keeping your peripherals and awareness intact. The only thing I would say, is you NEED to have good consistent cheek weld (which you should have anyways), and it has to be pretty far back-not much eye relief. But it's worth it once you understand these quirks and is fast and clear once used to it. Another bonus for it is that it can be "slaved" to any other sight on any rifle, it doesnt NEED to be behind a red dot, if you have irons, this will still work. If irons are zeroed, then you can zero this to those and so on, if it's set stable at one point/target. It would also work for say if you had a 20x scope and had room to put this behind it, youd have a 20x and 6x, or a thermal and this behind it, its versatile. Or stand alone. I thought for some reason it HAD to be with a red dot, it does not. Can be used alone, as long as it has room and can look along the side of the other optic, if its tall enough.

I bought this Leupold Tracked wanting a cheaper thermal backup to my Flir 240 Marine for when I go hunting, nature watching. I actually think this will get used more for a couple of different reasons. First, it has eye relief unlike my Flir First Mate, which in the dark of night is almost retina burning it feels. People ask if my gen 3 PVS-7 weARs out my eyes, I say, "no, but my thermal Flir kills me!!! It's almost painful towards the end of the night" Second is the external battery source, waiting for my Flir to charge is obnoxious and long winded. It only last 4 to 5 hours, and takes about that long to charge!! The batteries for this is an added bonus, be nice to be in the woods and not have to rush back to the truck before it dies. The Leupold tracker, just pop in new battery and go on. Third is this thing is super lightweight and small, easily slides into a pocket, unlike the First Mate. The resolution i think seems close to the same. As for spotting birds and such, during the daytime this works better than my Flir, as my Flir, when looking close to the sky washes out because of the contrast heat, somehow this one doesn't do it nearly as badly. Another thing, is as for the resolution and all the griping about the pics.... if you want to see the species of an animal and their braces at 300 yds, then buy a $5k scope... this AND the Flir handheld units are more for scanning for any life/heat, and then for recognition using light or night vision!!!! Point being,
