Disappointed

Written on Jul 26, 2023

Having never seen any of these MOE SL handguards in person, and in use, I took the leap and bought a set. (1) Cannot use these with a military sling mount on an Front Sight Base. (2) If you want to use the bayonet lug,,,forget that, you cant with the SL handguard. (3) Triangular handguard caps and these handguards are not fit friendly

Decent Pic Rail Sections

Written on Apr 06, 2023

These pic rail sections have good T-nuts, lock in to MLok slots good. The underside of these rails have both lugging around the screw holes, and a rectangular lug that is closer to the normal-looking end of the rail, which worked out great for me. I fasten these to a UTG Pro 2 Piece Super Slim Drop In carbine handguard set. They feel like quality rails. The word "ACME" is engraved on the backside of them. They would probably survive a limited civil war. Country of origin not stated

A Convenient, Quality LPK,

Written on Mar 24, 2023

I installed this Lower Parts Kit on a CMMG Mk4 stripped lower, but it will work on any Mil-Spec AR15 lower offered by other companies. The convenience aspect of it is more to do with it having an Ambi-Safety Selector, Ambi-Mag Release, and stylish trigger guard included, and just put the deluxe goodies on once and be done. The feel of the trigger is very good for a common parts trigger. I have used CMMG common parts triggers in other lowers, and have been please with them (in a non competitive role). The Ambi Safety can be installed as a std. 90, or 60 degree throw. < Use some Loctite 222 on those little screws> The Zeroed pistol grip looks like a 15 degree angle style, which I like, however it wont replace the love I have for Magpul K2 grips. The grip has storage capability, but its not water proof (if that matters) and is fastened by a 5/32 Allen Filister head bolt. (I hope you have a T-Handle 5/32 Allen wrench on your bench) If one were to buy the (complete)Zeroed Ambi Safety [$45],Zeroed Ambi Mag Release system [$52], and the Zeroed Bolt Catch kit [$23],, separately,, $120 for the three items mentioned.

TAC Deluxe AGB

Nice looking gas block. I believe the diameter was too large, I checked the hole with my calipers, and it measured .752. It came with a tube roll pin. You will need a 5/64 and 1/16 allen wrenches. Into the drawer...

Not a good M Lok picrail

Written on Feb 17, 2023

Maybe these LionGears "Bridge Mount" ,,,thats what it says on the bag,,, are for something other than a centerfire AR rifle. I used my calipers to check the picrail dimensions and they are in spec , but it has 2 holes, (on one end, and a center screw hole, and no hole on the opposite end). No lugs on the back. Came with two screws, but no MLok T-Nuts. I'll make a bench tool out of it. Maybe prelevel cantilever mounts and scopes before I attach them to the rifle picrail. This picrail is a no go for serious battle rifle implementation. China.

but 5 stars for recoil mgmt

Written on Jul 02, 2022

I screwed this onto a rifle, blamed the barrel for less than average accuracy. I unscrewed this muzzle device, shot the rifle bare, accuracy beyond 250 yards improved. The Midwest Ind muzzle device does indeed help with recoil mgmt, especially shooting off hand. 5 STARS. I like the 9mm version of this brake on my AR9.

Looks Nice...

Written on Aug 05, 2021

Mine was bought last year, and I have taken it out 4x, about a 350 round count. I handload my ammo, and have various 55FMJ, 62 g Hornadys, 62 steel core, and 68 Hornady BTHP shot out of the Trybe 16" Wydle bbl thus far. The 55 grain FMJ loads shot respectibly, the 62 weight bullets were so-so, and the 68 grain BTHPs didnt agree at all with this Trybe bbl. Anyway, I do like the barrel's contour, it was shipped with plastic caps on both ends. Nitrite finish is hanging in there. I noticed at little bit of tool chatter in the chamber when I was assembling, which now (after 350 rds) is starting to collect brass smear. I Go/No-Go gauged the chamber before assembley with a with its intended bolt, all good. Overall, I think the barrel is safe. The gas journal zone was true .750" when mic'd (the gas journal is 1.100" in length...Not FSB mountable). Muzzle threads were acceptable, free of lash and slop. Muzzle is chamfered around bore. I will clean up this barrel/upper, and put it under someone's Christmas Tree, someone I know who is a casual/infrequent shooter

Screwy AGB

Written on Jan 29, 2021

As far as fit and finish it's fine. It has + and - indication symbols engraved around the gas adjustment set screw. My disappointment has to do with the location of the locking set screw (the 4-40 set screw that applies tension on the gas adjustment screw). It's on the shoulder side, not the muzzle side, of the gas block (look at the picture, it's visible). I put just enough tension on it so I can make gas flow adjustment, because the lock set screw is unaccessible with a handgaurd installed. The gas block does regulate gas, it does work.

Met my needs

Written on Aug 30, 2020

In regards to the Guntec 4 inch model, it meets my minimum requirements as a barrel shroud. This handguard is being used in conjunction with a Faxon 4.5" 9mm bbl (AR9), to which the handgaurd was about 7/16" past the bbl muzzle. I ended up purchasing a KAK Micro Slimline (1.75in) Flash Can to remedy this. The Guntec handguard will pass on the over the the flash can, if you intend to swap muzzle devices. This handguard ships with 5 bbl nut shims for clocking the bbl nut, though I didn't need to use them. Some commenters have echoed some frustration with the (steel) bbl nut as far as wrenching is concerned, and I get it. The flats are kinda skinny, but 10" Proto L710 adjustable wrench was what I used. My Proto was at near maximum opening, just under 1¼, [31mm approx]. Don't let the wrench flat peculiarity be the deal breaker, because the handguard will conceal any wrenching blemishes occurring to the bbl nut. The rating star I shorted this handguard on involves a .020 gap that exists between the picatinny railing between the upper receiver and the handgaurd. I feeler gauged it, and it's a perfect .020" around the circumference of the assembly. Maybe Guntec intended this gap, IDK, but its there. I could get rid of it if I spent the time with a die grinder and trim back some of the extrusion stiffing ribs inside the handguard. Then file out the 6 screw hols in the handguard...not worth the trouble. I installed a AR Stoner Aluminum Micro Handstop on the belly of this ha
