Burris owned Steiner Dbal NG

Written on Jan 30, 2020

The product overall is solid in concept. Quality control appears to be an issue after being aquired by Burris. I have multiple A3's as well as several I2's. All the A3's post 6/19 production I have had power indicator light malfuntion. Others, post 4/18, have had Atpial input port defects. I semt all in need of waranty repair in recieved by Steiner 12/6/2019. Never received Tech updates as to the status of the units. 4-6 week turnaround estimated. Made first call to Steiner Tech support 1/27/2020 (Monday). 11th in the queue an opted for call back option. 2 hours 10 minn later Steiner called back. The tech was un able to provide any info as to what repairs had been done and was only able to confirm that my items had all been repaired and were ready for return shipping as of 1/23/2020. Steiner tech indicated that it should ship this week and I would receive email confirmation with tracking when shipped. On 1/29/2020 (Wednesday) I placed another call to Steiner and and expeirenced a Grondhog day like event. It is now 1/30/2020. Situation is unchanged. I am now in a position that I must purchase replacements for the my items that appear to be firmly ancorhored in the Steiner shipping department at the Miamisburg Ohio facility. I have made the decision to change product manufacturers. Watch ebay for a bunch of used Dbals! I prefer to give someone else a chance.

A winner from Trijicon

Written on Jul 25, 2019

This is my first pistol mounted red dot sight. As my eyes are getting older the ability to focus transitionaly between near and far focus points is becoming more difficult. Just as I trained with BUIS only with my carbines to build a dependable and repetitive mount, I have also trained with a pistol, irons only, to develope a strong and repeatable grip. I have not found myself, "chasing the dot". I do a fair amount of training every week with a round count in the 1000-2000 range. All of my carbines have red dot sights now. Using red dot sights on my secondary is makingme faster in target aquisition when transitioning from carbine to pistol. Keeping focus on the threat without dropping back to the front sight feels more natural every day.

high and tight

Written on Jul 25, 2019

I use as standard configuration on my rifles with dbal A3 and surefire scout light directly adjacent. The configuration is high and tight on the end of the rail. The aditional with makes the scout light transition cleanly and is well supported.
