Great budget red dot

Written on Feb 06, 2024

For the money you can do a lot worse. I have seen cheap knock offs from overseas that are the same price but absolute junk, not even suitable for airsoft. This is a quality basic red dot that you can put on any gun you want usable optics on without breaking the bank. Does it have all the feature of the more expensive ones? No. However the money you save will feel much better in your wallet than on top of a gun you may or may not need those features on. If you have 500 bucks buy a $500 red dot, if you don't, buy this and know that you will be getting a good usable optic.

Pretty good deal for the money

Written on Jan 31, 2015

I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed when I first opened the box. The "hard case" was not exactly impressive, had some scuffed up corners and the rivets that hold the hinges on look like they were installed by a drunk monkey. In a word, cheap. Opening the case and looking at the parts I also noticed that the tripod was all plastic and appeared kind of cheap too. When I picked up the scope I almost cried, it doesn't weigh a thing which I translated into poor quality.

Until I used the scope...

All I can say is WOW, the optical quality of the presentation is stunning. Not just for a cheap scope but for any scope. great focus and clarity all the way out to its max range. I was able to zoom in and focus clearly at 300-400 yards. I must say I am a believer now. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is for fit and finish of the case. However it did come with a perfectly good soft case that I will probably use when the hard case disintegrates. Even if you throw everything else in the trash, for the money you can't beat this scope. Buy it.

Great Gen 1+ sccope

Written on Sep 08, 2014

These are very good quality Gen 1+ scopes. I see folks complaining about it not being able to see very far but you have to remember it's all about amplifying AVAILABLE light. If it is pitch black dark out or you are inside a room with no light guess what you will see through this scope... pitch black.

Couple this with a stronger IR transmitter and or visible light source and it is fine for the price. I put this on top of my 50 Beowulf for night hunting and it lights up great for as far away as I want to take the shot. If I hang an aftermarket IR emitter under the gun I can see pretty good up to about 100 yards but I don't want to shoot that far as the drop is crazy.

Also don't expect to have the same picture looking through this scope as you would a standard 4X scope. This has the looking through a paper towel roll tube thing going on as is correct with this Gen of optics. If you know what you are getting into it is a great answer for folks who want the capability but just don't want to spend a ton.

If you want to mount a night vis scope on a long shot gun, 308 and up I would go with Gen 2 or better. but if your looking for short range 223 stuff or inside 50 yards this is a good way to go.
