Great Helmet Upgrade
Written on May 13, 2026
Review for
Team Wendy EXFIL All-Terrain Mandible
This is a pretty slick helmet upgrade. I attached it to my TW bump helmet. It's easy to install and remove in case you only want a bump helmet when you dismount.
This, the helmet, and a cover are lighter than my old dirt bike helmet and definitely higher quality. The mandible itself is very breathable and pretty stiff, but still flexible enough to absorb impact.
The biggest con is that it's tighter to the face than a dirt bike helmet, particularly around the ears. This is a design constraint of attaching this to a bump helmet, rather than making it an integral piece. But that does make this a little trickier to put on than a dirt bike helmet, and the harness buckle is under the mandible so that's kind of annoying. Also, it's difficult to get a cheek weld with a rifle, much like wearing a gas mask, and ear muffs won't fit under it. None of these are deal breakers, just things to be aware of. Everything's a trade off.
The bottom line: if you only need a dirt bike helmet, get a dirt bike helmet. If you have/need a bump helmet (say, for mounting night vision) and want face protection when you're riding, this is a great setup.

Great Nitride BCG
Written on Dec 25, 2025
Like everything from Faxon, this BCG is very well made and the nitride finish is very consistent with no blemishes. It functions perfectly, although it's hard to find a BCG that doesn't at the beginning of it's life span. The nitride finish will hold up better than phosphate or nickel boron, putting it on par with chrome.

Tough Mlok Rail
Written on Aug 13, 2025
This is the thickest mlok rail I've seen so far. Most mlok rails feel relatively weightless, but this one has some heft to it. It's very well machined and has a smooth, comfortable to grip surface. I wouldn't use this on a light weight rifle build, but I would recommend this for pretty much anything else. It will give you a stiff, durable, comfortable rail.

Great slimline stock
Written on Jan 31, 2025
If you want a solid stock that is bigger than a CTR stock but not as wide as an ACS or an STR stock, this is the one. It's just as sturdy as any of Magpul's other friction lock stocks, but it allows you to get your face closer to the stock that any with battery storage tubes.

Best Sling for the Money
Written on Dec 18, 2024
Review for
Magpul MS1 Multi-Mission Sling
This is a great two point sling at lower price than its competitors. They market the inline slider as being less of snag hazard than pull-tab type slings, but I think it's more important contribution is that it's a little more intuitive to find since it doesn't flop around. It's also several inches longer than a Vickers sling. You can always cut off the excess if you want, but it gives you plenty of material to drape over armor and backpack straps and still have room to move your rifle.
It seems to be made of polyester or a polyester blend rather than nylon, so it might a bit less durable. But polyester is softer and slicker, so it almost feels like a padded sling and slides over your kit more easily.

Does it's job

Review for
Magpul Industries M-LOK Wire Control Kit
These are a great, flexible option for cable management. They do stick out from the rail a bit, so they're best used on your strong side so your support hand fingers can grip them. They might be a bit uncomfortable under your support side palm. Otherwise, you put them almost anywhere and run cables in any direction.

Kind of pricey but it works
Written on Jun 18, 2024
It's a Surefire product: you get what you pay for, so it works flawlessly.
My only complaint is that it has 7 inch leads and I would prefer 9 inch leads, but that's personal preference.

Simple and Effective
Written on Jun 02, 2024
It's very simple and it does it's job. It's pretty much just the two sets of threads with a free floating transfer bar for the current, so there's very little that can go wrong with it. The only issue with it (which is unavoidable) is that it makes the overall light assembly about an inch and a half longer.
I wouldn't recommend that someone buy a streamlight with intention of putting this on there. A light that doesn't require an adapter would be shorter and simpler. But if you already have a streamlight and need to run it with a different tailcap, it will do the job.
