Best scope in its price range.

Written on Jan 28, 2025

If you're building an SPR, and this is your price range, this is the scope. Nothing beats it at this price. It has all the features youd want. Only thing I can ding it for, is it doesnt have as sharp of glass as a Viper PST or a Leupold... but those cost more, and those dont have all the featues that this does, like locking turrets and an actually GOOD reticle design. The 2-12 magnification range is perfect for a SPR out to distances that 5.56 is still terminally effective and also low enough magnification with a forgiving eyebox for closer range stuff. Serously. This is the scope you want if this is your price range.

Samson MPX handguard

Written on Mar 08, 2024

This is a pretty good handguard. Samson isnt super well known but they make some really neat stuff and its always quality. This MPX handguard is cheaper than the competitors and its a better design both in features and anesthetics.

Really no reason to not go with samson on this one.

Troy universal mount

Written on Mar 08, 2024

I bought this and a burris fastfire 3 so i could habe aight and cost effective red sot on a PCC. Lets just say, i see why its on sale for 30 dollars.

Theres nothing inherently wrong with the mount, but the way the plates interface with to the mount and how the mount attaches to the gun... idk its not confidence inspiring.

Firstly, there is no RMR footprint. Yeah so if you're looking for RMR compatibility, this aint it chief. Second the plates themselfs are 100 percent 3d printed and have some imperfections to them, the imperfections arent detrimental to the performance of the mount, but what is detrimental is the fact youre mounting your red dot to the platic plate, to the mount and then to the picatiny. Its just a lot of tolerance stacking tbh.

For 30 dollars id say its worth it just to throw a red dot on something for cheap.

ariska alpha light bar mount

Written on Mar 08, 2024

Yes. This was exactly what i needed for my troy alpha rail. I was so excited to find this. This allows you to mount a light via indexing onto the round hole cutouts of troy alpha rails. Very low profile, sunk right down to the rail and looks good.

If you own a troy alpha rail. You need to get this. It was kind of a pain to get everything to line up right, but now that its all together, it was all worth it and its solid. Well priced too.

Troy Handstop

Written on Mar 08, 2024

This is a handstop. This is not a verical grip. There isnt a 90 degree angle on it. Thus it makes it a very nice option for AR pistols.

As far as hand stops go, this is a very long handstop. 2.2 inches they claim. It is made from solid aluminum, so its heavy compared to a hollow handstop or a smaller handstop. But it allows for more area to stop your hand. Because its a hand stop and not a vertical grip.

Kind of spendy for a hand stop, but if you're looking for a longer hand stop, this is a pretty long handstop.

Handstop.

Helps dial in AR9's

Written on Jan 10, 2024

If youve ever built an AR9 from ground up youll find out, or maybe you already have found out, they can be very finicky.

One area where they can be finicky is proper carrier/buffer weight combo. Experts that have built many AR9's in the past have recommended to have a combined weight between the carrier and the buffer to be NO LESS than 23 ounces, more is better but you want to be around the 23 ounce mark. This helps dial that weight in and allows you to add and take away weight as needed ibpaired it up with the Odin Works 9mm BCG and brough the weight to a little over 23 ounces, just like the advice said, and it was perfect. No more FTE's.

A downside is you are going to have to really tighten down the nut that seals the weights into the buffer and probably blue loctite it. Its what i had to do because it kept backing out. Ive shot many hundrededs of rounds since doing it and it hasent backed out again... yet. But the design worries me. Just make sure to PMCS your carbine and make the buffer nut a spot to check before you take it out to the range and check it often to make sure it isnt backing out.

Another winner

Written on Jan 09, 2024

Best mount there is for 30mm red dots. Dont believe me, buy one. Youll thank me later.

This is pretty much perfection when it comes to mounting 30mm red dots. Ultra lightwight, quality is flawless, you will buy this and wonder how it isnt more expensive. Its the Larue killer. Check out their other mounts aswell. All amazing.

another good option

Written on Jan 09, 2024

This is another good option in the AK mount selection. VERY lightweight. Far lighter than my Midwest or Master mounts.

What i dont like is the thin and flimsy lever lock. I find if i want to take it off a rifle I have to pry it up and out. I havent bent it yet but i dont like it and think that both Midwest and Master mount have superior locking lever designs comparitvely.

Midwest is a staple. A reliable name.

Not sure what mount to get for your AK? New to all this? Start here, or one of the other midwest mounts.

These mounts are no tricks and no gamble. You will receive a solid product that will serve you well. They arent flashy like some other options, but they are professional quality gear. Some of their other options are less expensive, this one is the price because its the 30mm ring and the swapable gen 2 design that you can buy seperate mounts if you choose to change things up. But with the right sales and discount codes these can be under 150.

For quality gear you gotta pay a premium, for some other options they can go well past the price of these mounts and you dont get anything in return except maybe a flashy name and design. Again, these are profesional mounts for professional duty roles. They will not disappoint you.

pretty much a necessity imo

Written on Jan 09, 2024

Almost a requirement for those with smaller hands. Throwing the safety selector on my PTR91 meant i had to break my grip every time in order to do it which was annoying.

This paired with the grip module completely transforms these guns into the 21 century. Unless youre going for a retro vibe, these are a must have upgrade imo.
