Review for
Konus 3-POD 9 Photographic Tripod
This is a nice, inexpensive tripod for camers & possibly light duty spotting scopes. It has plastic knobs & comes with zero directions. I had to figure out how the mounting plate detaches in order to mount my new Konus spotting scope on it. One of the knobs tightens two different tilt angles. I've never received something like this that doesn't have any directions. The search feature at Optics Planet wouldn't pull up anything meaningful, only spotting scope that come with tripods... but the live chat guy sent me links to a few different tripods offered by Optics Planet so I figured I was off to the races. I selected one of the tripods that the chat guy recommended I look at, which was also made by Konus. Come to find out the plastic knobs don't tighten enough to keep the scope from sliding /tilting down in the front so it's pretty much useless even though it's made by Konus also.
So, I called Optics Planet & talked to a live person... who asked me what I was thinking, buying a 24.00 tripod for a 200.00 spotting scope. (??) I told him the Chat guy gave me a few links to tripods made by Konus & so I figured Konus scope, Konus tripod, Chat guy sent me the link... so I picked & bought one! He said I should know better than to buy a cheap tripod for such a big spotting scope to which I replied I had no idea the scope would be too heavy for the tripods the chat guy referred me to & this being my first spotting scope & first tripod, how was I supposed to know? Maybe he talks to

Too soon to know

I received the tool in a about a week, I plan on actually using it when the weather warms up around here which may be a few more months from now--- I want to check out the original mfg. sights but it has simply been too cold to venture out to a range & play.
I know folks who go out when it's below zero & shoot, personally, I prefer to have weather at least 35-40 degrees when I "play".
Thus, I could only give 3 stars as I truly I can't in all honesty give a higher or lower rating.
