I received the ASC Billet Upper Receiver today, and although Optics Planet forgot to ship the 7” hand guard, I’m happy with the receiver itself (and I will review the hand guard once received). I mated the receiver to an AERO M4E1 receiver and it mated perfectly. My Radian charging handle and FAXON lightweight BCG fit without any issues. The finish is very similar to that of the AERO, so it doesn’t look mismatched. My ASC receiver only had one small/very minor blemish, but it’s in a location that will be covered by the hand guard, so I’m fine with it for the price I paid for this receiver/hand guard combo. I would recommend this item if a slick side/slim/lightweight profile is your goal. My build minus the FAXON barrel, hand guard, muzzle brake and adj. gas block is right at 3 lbs. That weight includes the SB Mini brace, Elftmann Pro Lock trigger, Strike Industries shirt buffer tube/spring, Magpul MOE+ grip, etc. This should weigh just under 5 lbs. total (with empty mag) when complete. The upper receiver is 7.1oz.

I ordered this item without ever seeing a Lancer product in person, and the fitment is awesome. The only gripe that I had with it was the dull/matte finish on the carbon fiber. It looks shinier in production photos than it actually is in person. For the price of this item, the finish should've been better. I ended up taking it to a paint shop and having it clear coated, and now it looks more like a $250 product. Overall though, I'm very happy with the way it has transformed the look of my 716, and the added hand placement options the guard provides. It also has QD attachment points on both sides of the hand guard. You will also need to buy the $30 Lancer accessory rail if you plan to use a bipod or mount a flashlight.

The Stark grips are superior to any other grip I've used or sampled. They are contoured well, the material is of very good quality, and there is storage inside of the grip. I have these grips on both of my AR's and on my AK. You won't be disappointed.
