Great Upgrade

Written on Jan 09, 2023

I’ve put thousands of rounds through my PPQ with the stock barrel no problem. I’ve made a few modifications (Walther mag extension, TruGlo TFX sights) but this was the first “internal” component I swapped. Just as accurate as the stock barrel, and all you have to do is swap the recoil spring assembly whenever you are affixing a muzzle device. If you run this without a muzzle device, be sure to leave the original factory spring installed.

Popular Look with Function

Written on Dec 18, 2021

Bought this after seeing some good looking “blast diverters” on factory ARs. Easy enough to add to any upper since it requires no shims or crush washer to time it to the barrel (due to ports being all around the brake). It especially looks good with hand guards that are almost the length of your barrel, while still providing the functionality you would want in a muzzle break.

Running 62 grain target ammo I did have a more noticeable muzzle flash than with the standard AR muzzle break, but I didn’t see this as an issue for me personally.

Shims vs Crush Washer

Written on Feb 01, 2021

The included crush washer doesn’t allow the muzzle brake to be timed right, even after tightening down with as much pressure as possible. Ended up ordering muzzle shims that fit my threads and using a combination of the shims and the crush washer to get the correct timing on the brake.

This was a minor inconvenience, but unfortunate that no matter how much I tried to use the included crush washer, it never allowed the brake to time correctly. I recommend buying firearm specific muzzle washers when installing to allow for proper timing.

Good Idea, Challenging Install

Written on Dec 29, 2020

The CQR stock definitely adds a cool and unique look to any AR, but leaves something to be desired when it comes to the install. The pistol grip portion does not exactly line up with the receiver and requires some forcing to get it lined up and fit. The grip also has a small metal plate (located inside the grip itself) that you thread the screw through to the receiver—most likely as a means of reinforcing the grip—however the metal plate was misaligned inside the grip and had to be forced back into position. Without the plate aligned, the screw which attaches the grip to the receiver won’t insert.

Overall, the stock is one of the coolest appearance and functional options you can add, but it definitely could require a forceful install if you have the same issues as me.
