Not compatible with Beretta 92

Written on Feb 27, 2024

While the device seems to be fairly well made, it is in no way compatible with a Beretta 92X.
I could not center the rear sight pusher because the safety/decocker on the Beretta slide is in the way. If I moved the slide back and clamped forward of the safety/decocker, the pusher doesn't even cover half of the rear sight.
The jaws are too high to grip the flat part of the slide for the front sight. Instead, they press up against curved upper part of the slide which provides no grip at all. If the tool had changeable jaws, it may work for the Beretta 92.
I also found that the front sight pusher didn't turn smoothly like the rear sight pusher. I suspect that one or both of the brass bushings aren't quite flat and causes some binding when being rotated.
That being said, I do think it would work fine for most slides that are square in shape.

Huge improvement over a mil spec trigger

Written on Jun 01, 2022

This drop in trigger is easy to install, my 14 year old actually installed it. It's crisp with no travel and just the right amount of pull. I have the flat trigger in my first AR build, and bought the curved trigger for my wife. Absolutely worth every penny.

Lightweight and looks cool

I bought this in black and hydro-dipped it in navy camo. I masked off the rubber cheek cushion and butt pad and let the rest be hydro dipped and it turned out really nice. My only complaint is that it doesn't completely fit the Vltor A5 buffer tube, which is 11/16" longer than a mil spec buffer tube. Because of this length, it will not index to the shortest position on the buffer tube.

Excellent recoil reduction

Written on Jun 01, 2022

I use this on an AR15, 5.56, 18" barrel, rifle length gas system, with a muzzle brake. Recoil, compared to a stock, mil spec, buffer tube is significantly lower.

I liked it so much that I bought another for my second build which is a 16 inch, mid length setup.

Very good at reducing recoil and a good value

Written on Jun 01, 2022

I bought this for my first AR15 build and have limited experience with the platform. In my particular build, I have an 18 inch barrel, rifle length gas system, with a Vltor A5 buffer system. The recoil from this build is only slightly more than a 22 magnum bolt action. Barrel rise is minimal and there's no flash in the field of view. It's loud, but that is to be expected with a brake. Be sure to wear hearing protection ANY time you are using this device. My 95 pound teenage daughter has no trouble handling the rifle with this brake.

1MOA dot is too small, auto brightness is not very good

Written on Jun 01, 2022

This was the first red dot I'd purchased and, at the time, knew nothing about them other than that they had a red dot to aim with. The two things I don't like about this are that the red dot is so small that it is almost not visible outside on a bright day, and that the auto brightness setting is entirely too low. When I first tried the auto brightness, I didn't even think it was on, but after I set it to 10, found the aim point, and set it to auto, I could see it, but it was very dim. Auto brightness is only functional in very low light.
Indoors or in low light, it works fine, but having used other red dots since purchasing this, I realize that 1MOA is really small and that's why I can't see it on bright days. I do like it for indoor shooting. It's accurate and easy to adjust.

You get what you pay for, I guess

For the price, this seemed like a great deal on a safe, but in the end, you’ll end up paying a lot more than you expect for delivery. I also have reasonable suspicion that this safe was a returned item that got shipped to me as “new”.

Let’s start with the $370 freight delivery fee which only includes dropping it on your driveway. When I arranged for the delivery, Optics Planet said nothing to me about this and made no mention of “white glove” service that I would learn of only after I spoke with the freight company to make the final delivery arrangements. If you want it delivered in your house, make sure to tell Optics Planet that before you agree to any shipping cost. Based on some basic research online, I believe the inside delivery of this size safe would have been an additional $400 in my case because of the stairs in my house. Fortunately I have friends with able bodied high school seniors who were willing to help me move it. They would have done it for pizza, but I gave them $140 for their effort.

Second of all, there was considerable scratches and dents on this thing. If I can figure out how to add pictures to this review I will. The box was pretty messed up, and the pallets it was on were completely destroyed. In fact, one of the lag bolts that held the safe to the pallet was not even screwed in any longer because the wood was so busted up. The pallets were so damaged that the delivery driver and I had to work together to get the pallet jack through all the b
