My favorite targets

Written on May 10, 2021

Been using these for a number of years, they are my favorite targets. They are reasonably priced and an excellent value for the money. The red & white colors make the bullet holes easily visible at 100yds. These targets are good for sighting in scopes or general target practice. To get better targets you would have to purchase the splatter targets and they cost a lot more. For the money these I think are the best value.

Excellent Trigger for the money

Written on Oct 10, 2019

I have a Geissele trigger on one of my AR's and a CMC on another, their is a slight difference with the edge going to the Geissele. For the price difference between the two, unless your competition shooting you would be better off with CMC. The Geissele was a little more difficult to install where the CMC you simply drop it in. Save yourself some $$$ the CMC triggers are well made.

A conditional Recommendation

Written on Jul 07, 2019

Nightforce has a reputation for rugged and reliable optics. I've only used my SHV for a couple of weeks but it holds zero and tracks well. My only complaint is the reticle, the lines are so thin they seem to disappear when you lock onto your target. My advise for anyone looking into this scope would be to get the illuminated reticle, that should solve the problem. Unfortunately for me I'm stuck with a thousand $$$ dollar scope that is not up to par with my Leupold & Vortex scopes. I'm not saying this scope isn't going to work for someone else but for me if had a do over I would. Nothing against the quality of this scope, the glass and build quality all seem to be excellent, the reticle is the only issue I have with this scope. If the reticle is good for you this scope should serve you well.

EXCELLENT VALUE

Written on Mar 22, 2019

You have a lot of choices today in the spotting scope market and if you don't do some research you can end up with something less than what you want. I had it happen on a previous purchase with a Meopta HD80, it was a good scope but just didn't do all I expected for what it cost. After Having watched videos, going to forums, reading articles & reviews on a lot of scopes, for the money everything pointed to the Razor . I took it out to the range and at 300 yards (where I was having trouble with my current spotter), I was able to make out my targets clearly. The range I'm a member of only has 300 yards so I couldn't check targets at any further distances. I have looked at trees on the mountains when I live and it gives a good clear image of the scenery. I will say that I have noticed at the high end of the magnification it's not quiet as clear & crisp than at the 40-50 power setting (I have noticed that on other scopes as well). The Razor is well built (a little heavy if you plan on hiking in the woods or carrying it while hunting, you may want to look at the smaller 22-48x65 model), it has a European look to it, a non slip texture covers the scope and a large focus wheel for easy adjustments. It comes with a cover or skin (which ever you call it), this thing is extremely hard to put on. For the money I think you would have to get into the mid 2K's to get a better scope and that's just a little to rich for my blood. I have several Vortex products and haven't had any issu

A little disappointed

Written on Jan 28, 2019

After doing a lot of research I thought this scope would be the best thing I could get under $2000, but what I got was a little disappointed. I have a Vortex Skyline that cost me $400, (had it since about 2011 & they have changed the name of this model to diamondback or viper) so I compared the two side by side. The Meopta has a clear image and is a bit brighter, but the eye relief is a little to close, only about 1" - 1 1/2". Comparing it to my Vortex at 300 yds I couldn't tell very much difference between them, the Meopta was a little brighter but I didn't see $1000 difference between them. I'm mainly using this scope for benchrest and the trouble that I've been having is at 300 yds its difficult to make out 6.5mm holes unless you have 2 or 3 that are close together.
The Meopta is a good scope it's very well built, but after comparing it to my old Vortex I just can't see spending that much money when I'm not gaining anything. Guess I'll have to do some more research and maybe find some store locally that will let me compare scopes side by side. That's the only way I can think of to see what I'm getting without having to order one and send it back.

Distinctive Look

Written on Dec 23, 2018

This makes my second Daniel Defense buttstock and I love the look it gives my AR. It has a distinct look to it, which is one reason I got it. The stock has a non slip rubber texture on both sides that will help you get a better grip if your hands are wet. Its fairly simple to put on and works with mil spec parts. It does cost a little more but I like the look it gives my AR, seems like everybody has a magpul stock.

Best fit I've Found

Written on Jun 15, 2017

These Hogue grips are the best that I have found. The texture of the grip has a good feel to it that want slip when your hands get wet or sweaty. Installation is easy and you have a variety of colors to choose from. The fit when installed to the AR Lower is perfect, no gaps.

Fits like a charm

Love this bore guide from Gunslick. I looked at several bore guides before I decided on the Gunslick, it fits great and it has a slot for you to see that your cleaning patch is still on the jag before entering the bore. It comes with multiple O-rings to adjust for a loose or tight fit. The end of the guide is knurled for a good grip to insert or remove the guide, its made of aluminum and right here in the USA!

Great cleaning rod

Written on May 29, 2016

I have several cleaning rods from different brands and the Gunslick is about as good as any that I own. I think Tipton may be just a little bit better, but that is only because I like the handle on the Tipton. For the price these are hard to beat, if you can catch them on sale I highly recommend getting one.

Quality, Design and Craftsmanship

Written on Apr 28, 2016

This is my second DNZ Scope tube mount and I can say I am very pleased with it. I've looked at others in the same price range and have found none that can match the quality, design or craftsmanship of DNZ. With the one piece design you don't have to worry about lining up the rings like on a 2 piece model. Not much like taking a nice scope off from your rifle and seeing crease markings on it because the scope rings weren't perfectly aligned, you want have that problem with a one piece design.
If your still questioning my review of this product I advise you to go to your local sporting goods store and compare DNZ to any other one piece design in their price range. I have seen one or two others that may be as good or better but their price was more than double that of DNZ.
