Good quality Pelican knock off.

Written on Mar 10, 2016

Let's face it, if your rifle case costs as much as your rifle, there's an issue. This thing seals like a beast, has some good hearty latches which grip better then your meat claws holding onto your beer at a pool party around your crazy uncle who always shoves everyone into the pool. The interior foam is good, hugs and caresses your AR like a loving mother holding her new born, which we all know is the same thing when it comes to a mans rifle. Now if you're looking to protect those Walmart optics you slapped on your rifle, because you know, what's the difference right, this is right up your alley.

Stop being an oper8tor and comparing this to a PVS7 or PVS14.

Written on Mar 09, 2016

Ex-Military and LEO. No. This does not have the level of image intensification of a $2000 monocular. So stop comparing it to something outside of its league. In the house of Nightvision, Spark is the roommate that drives a Prius and shops at Old Navy. It's practical and cheap but still good quality. The whole CORE thing and all that, i feel is gimmicky, but it's clear, crisp, and very well constructed. This doesnt feel, look, or work like a complete shiney plastic bargain bin night vision. Now, I'm not a rich man so this will have to do. Fills the need for your night vision to keep the raccoons out of your trash, run around and play navy seal, or just hiking in the woods looking for big foot. Head mounting takes some fandangoing so look around for forums on how to make it happen.

Good Value, IR illuminator is incredible value

Written on Jan 04, 2016

Ex-Military and LEO. I usually don't like buying into all the fru-fru zombie marketing but I read good reviews on this scope. Keep in mind it's price. It's not a PVS4 starlight for sure. If you buy it with that in mind, you're as unrealistic as my mother-in-law. For the money it's a solid deal. The scope has some weight to it but not too bad. Do some curls with it once you put it on your rifle to get your PT up. It has a clear and crisp reticle and good eye cup. I don't know what caliber is the max at which it'll come back and punch you in the face. I've read .308? Only issue at first is you do need some serious gorilla grip to turn the front focus, but I figure the more you use it the softer it'll get. Comes in a flimsy carry case/cover, which isn't too bad. Main thing I liked: The IR illuminator is a Heck of a deal. It's adjustable in focus and intensity, comes in a little swivel mount for adjusting on you target area. I think it alone retails almost $100.

Best Value IR for the money

Written on Jan 04, 2016

Ex-Military and LEO. For the money this is as good as you'll get. It's small so doesn't hog rail real-estate, runs on AA, adjusts real nice, and holds zero like a beast. I'm sorry but I can't slam $1000 for the super mall ninja PEQ to call in air strikes and all that. Unless you're actually going to the sandbox this is good enough. Take the other $500 you'll save and get the wife something nice. I don't recommend buying the Chinese air soft knock offs on eBay even thought they're $100. From experience they don't hold zero and shut off after a few rounds. Middle ground is this. Comes with an easy big switch in the back that is GI proof. It's bright as heck in my nods and the laser is as crisp as a cold beer on a hot summer day.

Best way to use NVG head mounted Spark

Written on Jan 04, 2016

This is honestly the best way to hold the Armasight Spark to your head. It's very comfortable and adjustable. I honestly barely felt the weight of the monocular while wearing it. Comes in its own large carrying case. Only problem is it is hard to put the nods on and pull them off using the attachment, however this is necessary so they don't slide off. The only other option that works I've seen for the spark is to buy a MICH style helmet, rhino mount, j arm, rail adapter piece, and mod the rail adapter with a die tap. It can be done but unless you're using it for air soft or other legit tactical applications you're going to look like a freak running around with a military style helmet on your head. I'm ex-military and current LEO so I know what I'm talking about. This is a great piece of gear if you want to head mount an Armasight.
