These are going to dramatically filter the brightness of your Stinger which helps to not spook game. So keep in mind these will limit the distance of light travel maybe more than you expect. Get them all to find what suits you and to be prepared for any situation. These are well made and stay in place and open quickly with one hand but you'll need both to close properly.
Compared to the Deluxe Boyt case that I bought in 2006 (which was made in Korea before discontinued by Boyt), this case is made in China and way below the quality they used to make. In fact, they no longer make this one out of heavy cotton canvas with thick quilted flannel lining and all-metal zippers. The case exterior cover and interior lining are mostly polyester and plastic...as well as the zipper. Only the leather appears natural, but it’s very thin and grainy and offers little support to the case. Their leather used to be as smooth as a table top and very thick with a beautiful rich color and luster finish. Now the leather is much thinner and cheap looking due to the heavy grain and drab color and dull finish. However, the handles are the worst part of the case because they are longer than the picture shows which makes the case unbalanced and stretchy. They also reduced the protective batting so it’s as flimsy as less expensive cases. Despite those negatives, it does look better than most China cases so I probably got what I paid for...but I won't buy another Boyt after this one.
Item sold is not as pictured, but it's still a good cover. Leupold's website shows the current design which is much different than the previous style as shown on this site. Instead of a decent size logo and brand name printed on each side like the picture shows, Leupold now prints their name in huge letters all the way across each side. The labeling is overkill, but you will sure know who made it.
Compared to the Stinger DS HPL, the UltraStinger is a little brighter and throws a little further. And since they are about the same price depending on where you buy, the UltraStinger is a little more bang for the buck. But the trade-off is length and especially weight. But after you get used to that, there is a big difference in the switch. The UltraStinger switch is difficult to locate and engage due to a lack of recess around the switch as compared to the HPL. It's not the button size that makes it difficult...it's the fact that you have to press down inside a small cut-out to turn it on. The recess around the HPL is much simpler to engage and locate. If the UltraStinger were a DS model, it would be a much better flashlight than it is without a tailswitch. I recommend the UltraStinger second to the DS HPL Stinger.
