A nice scope in some ways, but...
Written on Mar 21, 2018
I wanted to like this scope, I really did. Vortex has such a good reputation for optics at this price point that I thought for sure this scope would be perfect for my needs. I guess not. The real deal breaker for me was the narrow field of view. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing when I uncapped the scope and peered into the ocular. I had two other (less expensive) scopes and both of them have a noticeably wider field of view. There’s just enough black around the edge of these scopes’ FOV circle to define the edge. The Vortex scope, by comparison, seemed to have tunnel vision. I have to admit, I did like the turrets on this scope. They’re well-made and the clicks are crisp and well-defined. For a scope that costs 3 bills though, it is a little disappointing that it only had a 1” tube and there’s no parallax adjustment. But it was a Vortex. After returning it, I purchased a comparable competitor’s scope with a wider zoom range, a 30-mm tube, a larger objective lens, nice, bright, sharp optics with a larger field of view, a better reticle, parallax adjustment, and (like the Vortex) a lifetime warranty, all for 2/3 the cost of the Vortex scope. No disrespect to Vortex, but I don’t think that this is one of their better offerings.
