Most Helpful Positive Review Caldwell Precision Turret Shooting Rest 82-1400
I've been shooting and hunting for over 60 years. I used all kinds of shootin rest. This one is the best I have used, It holds the guns tight for accurte shots. I have built a lot of Ar rifles just wish I had it years ago. it also Holds my deerhunting rifles good and tight and does not hurt my wood stocks. I would recomend this unit to anyone who wants a good gun rest.

Caldwell gun mount

Works great at the range. Really no need for sand bags or to strap the gun down. Seems to be built specifically for AR-15. Easy to lock down.

Rock solid

by K8M50W3, Verified Owner from MS, United States Written on January 7, 2025
Rock solid construction, well designed and heavy duty. This will hold a rifle or a MSR securely for maintenance or using a laser boresight device to record zero before transferring the optic to another platform.
Pros:
  • Solid construction, heavy duty
Cons:
  • None noted, yet

Balance ⚖️

by Savage, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on July 20, 2024
I recently purchased this awesome piece of equipment to aid in the perfect balance of firing my rifle. This equipment is an absolute perfect addition to my gear. You can use it to install & zero in any optic. You can use it on a bench or in a prone position. It's truly better than i expected it to be. This review is as of July (2024).
Pros:
  • stabile as a tank
  • Exceeded All My Expectations
  • Quality , price , multi use options , tunability
Cons:
  • None

A little expensive but worth the money

by VinceC, Verified Owner from WV, United States Written on May 23, 2024
I had read reviews about it being heavy but didn’t realize it was as heavy as it is, which is a good thing because it helps keep this thing planted while shooting
Lots of adjustability makes it a very valuable tool
The only thing that I wish is that the actual turret had height adjustment and that the legs would fold for storage
Overall a great product

Rock solid mount

by Boomer, from ID, United States Written on March 19, 2024
I was impressed with the quality of this rest. The attached legs are solid instead of being pieces of pipe. The added support for a pistol grip is a real plus. It makes mounting and shooting your AR rifles / pistols extremely easy. I did find that the bearing the unit swivels on was a bit tight. The included Hex wrench for installing the legs fits the bearing adjustment screw. I backed it out slightly and it's all good. I'm very happy with this purchase and would certainly recommend it. After struggling with using sand bags / lead sled etc... It's nice to finally have a light weight rest that works!
Pros:
  • Light weight and easy to use
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Sighting in, would also work great for varmint shooting off a bench.

Screw for clamp is bent causing the adjustment wheel to wobble. However it seems to work just fine.

Precision turret shooting rest

by Cat, Verified Owner from WI, United States Written on December 14, 2023
My unit arrived in a well package box. Assembly was straight forward with the instructions being more than adequate to assist assembly. Very heavy duty with steel and aluminum construction where it counts. Very stable with three padded feet. Worked well on my wooded kitchen table.
I placed an older AR15 within the unit to trial its fit. The clamp on the hand guards worked well. Adjustment was such that ample pressure was applied without fear of over tightening and damaging the triangular hand guards. I do see where shooting an older AR with triangular hand guards may slip back in the clamp after firing a few rounds. Yet, that didn't happen. The pistol grip rested well on the rear pad allowing for adequate up / down adjustment. I really like this unit. A true bargain at this price point.

Now, some constructive feedback. With this design the rear pad does not swivel with the front clamp. I found the rear of the weapon would fall / slide off the rear pad when attempting to swivel for target acquisition. Not a big deal, but something to be aware of. Additionally, I placed a Bullpup airgun into the unit to see how well it would work. To my surprise it worked well. As I expected, the rear pad would run out of up / down adjustment. Still, adequate for my target shooting.
