rifle choke tube

by Bruce Barr, Verified Owner from AL, United States Written on June 18, 2024
This is the best rifle choke tube by far on the market I have one for my 20 gauge and my 12 gauge and it will shoot sabot slugs in a half to one inch group at 50 yards I haven't shot it a hundred but I figure it is pretty good I definitely recommend this to anyone

Three cheers for Carlson's customer service.

by Les, Verified Owner from OK, United States Written on May 14, 2024
I received this product in a timely manner, and found it completely unusable. I don't know if it was a manufacturing defect or damage in-transit but the product came to me with obstructed threads and couldn't fit in my shotgun. Thankfully Carlson's offered to send me a replacement free of charge no-questions-asked.

VR80 slug choke

by Bruce Barr, Verified Owner from AL, United States Written on April 28, 2024
This Carlson's rifle joke to you is excellent I put it in my VR80 I shot several slugs through it they all shot great groups at 50 yards I would recommend this to anyone it shoots way better than shooting them in a smooth bore with slugs. I ordered another one for my granddaughter's 20 gauge shotgun going to sight it in today with slugs causes is made one of the best choke tubes out there if you do not have a rifle barrel in your shotgun by one of these it works

Rifled choke tube

by Dan, Verified Owner from SC, United States Written on April 7, 2024
Carlson’s rifled choke is amazing. Choke tube has a well constructed design with durability. Easy to install, slug accuracy is improved in smooth bore barrels that are choke able. Using all types of slugs I love this product for hunting and at the range(100yrds easy).

it definitely helps!

by billy dee willyams, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on April 6, 2024
make sure to put some teflon tape and choke grease on the threads to keep it from walking. at 100 yards i can do tight groups with cheap venom slugs and a good optic. if you like shooting slugs, this is a must have!
Pros:
  • it definitely works.
Cons:
  • after 300+ rounds it wore out. carlsons does uphold their lifetime warranty and will send you a new one if you send yours back.
Best Used for:
  • hunting. target.

great slug choke

by Bruce Barr, Verified Owner from AL, United States Written on February 16, 2024
This is a great rifled choke and I'm using in my 12 gauge r i a VR80 shotgun.
I took my gun out shooting last week I was able to achieve one and a half inch to 1 in groups at 50 yards without the choke again I was shooting 3 to 4-in groups through a smooth barrel The new rifle choked tube really helps control the slug I am shooting 1 in rifled slugs through the gun and a really pleased with this chokes performance in my gun I am going to use it for hog hunting and I highly recommend this to everyone else.
Thanks for making such a great product Bruce

Really works

by Recreational shooter, from IL, United States Written on January 14, 2024
I had two before I ordered this one. They do tighten up groups with Foster slugs and help with .690 musket ball loads. I don't shoot sabot ammo so I don't know if they stabilize that type of ammo.
Pros:
  • Less expensive way for rifled slug than new barrel.
Cons:
  • May not work with expensive sabot ammo
Best Used for:
  • Foster slugs possibly round ball ammo

Improves accuracy with slugs

by CatDad, from IL, United States Written on January 6, 2024
I have two already and this is the third. Better accuracy with factory Foster slugs and lots better with cast 690 ball per load data.
Pros:
  • Better accuracy for less than fully rifled barrel,
  • Better accuracy for less than rifled barrel with standard slugs.
  • Better accuracy than smoothbore without expense of rifled barrel with sabot ammo
Cons:
  • Just don't use buck or birdshot with rifled tube

The hunt for accuracy

by Michigan boy, from MI, United States Written on November 11, 2022
My AR12s went from hitting all over the place to being a locksmith making keyholes off my shoulder while standing so… I’d recommend this choke if you have a 18.5” barrel on an 12ga AR style platform. Ran 30 rounds of black aces high brass rifled slugs with no significant fouling (to be clear I couldn’t really see any lead fouling in the choke when I cleaned the barrel, and I was as accurate on round 30 as I was on round 1). I’ve heard people say it does foul up but I didn’t see it. I heard people say more expensive ammo will run better but I didn’t see much room for improvement. Hope this helps.
Pros:
  • accuracy
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Slugs

Perfect fit in my Citadel Warthog

by James A, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on October 5, 2022
Ordered this for a recent pawn shop find. Wanted to add the rifled choke tube to my Citadel Warthog and this fit the bill. Comes with a wrench (plain stamped metal) and is blister packed. Has a nice long knurled section to aid in installing. Can’t wait to shoot it some and see how it works. Other sites had great reviews as well.
