Hard to find good 3v. The knife I purchased has a clean grind and is straight.

This knife lies up to the billing. It is like a minature sword in the hand.

The first thing you notice taking it out of the box is how attractive this knife is. Clean Function is esthetically pleasing to me! The thing you notice simultaneously is the weight. I forget the specs, but let me just say that the weight is much less than anticipated. Then you'll notice the balance. The weight and balance come together to make a very quick blade in hand. After THOSE main points, you start noticing things like sharpness. This blade is hollow ground which removes some weight but also makes for a very slicey blade design. The pattern on the handle expedites a good grip without being uncomfortable, which is the "sweet spot" for me. Then the guard,just the right size and shape...and finally the sheath, which holds the knife well and can be carried in many configurations. While I wouldn't use this blade for batonning firewood unless very necessary, this is a great blade that I'd imagine can make great feathersticks, as well as defend against someone with a bladed weapon quite handle! I like knives and have quite a few. This is a great addition that fits into a niche that I have the least invested into. I would definitely purchase again in 3v...but I don't know anything about San Mai...so do your own research on that!

I have seen a few low quality copies of the Magnum Tanto XII. This one is the real deal, I highly recommend
