johnchip's Review of Cryptic .223/5.56/.300 AAC Blackout Right Hand Bolt Carrier Group (BCG) - Complete

I've purchased Cryptic's Black Nitride and Manganese Phosphate BCGs and for the price you get a really good mil-spec BCG. The black nitride BCG is super slick, easy to clean and runs great, however, the carrier and the carriers gas key don't come chrome lined. The phosphate version does come with a chrome lined carrier and gas key. They both have chrome finished firing pins and have properly staked gas key screws. Both of them have C158 bolts with MPI stamped on them. The black nitride version has a C158 stamp on the bolt where as the phosphate version does not. I assume they don't stamp phosphate version with C158 because on their website they only offer it in C158 where as the black nitride versions bolt is offered in C158 and 9310. These BCGs are HPT batched tested and not individually tested. I have put over 1000 rounds through both of them at this point and never experienced any malfunctions. I am not 100% sure but their specs are very reminiscent to Toolcraft BCGs and they may very well be under the coatings and logo. Never the less, I think Cryptic does a great job applying their coatings to them, making them very easy to clean and very reliable to run. I own six black nitride BCGs and one manganese phosphate. I have not tried their "Mystic" coated BCGs but from what I've read in the reviews they supposedly are great and super easy to clean. I am not willing to pay over ~$200 for their special coating. Their black nitride and phosphate versions work just fine for me and I can get them on sale for ~$100. If you are looking for a budget friendly quality BCG then look no further. Cryptic has got what you need.
