Not a lock in the traditional sense
While this will secure the rifle, it isn't a "lock" in the traditional sense. There is no locking mechanism. Instead, the design relies on a screw to secure one half of the "lock" to the other. A child with needle nose pliers could open it.

Just what I wanted
Not the best but will keep the grand kids safe, and give me some peace of mind. You can't beat the for the price. ?.....?.........................................................?................................
