Very Good Billet Upper
I bought this for a new build to give it a shot. Its a great upper, with as noted some issues with the port door opening. I had to change to a port door with a larger tab mechanism because the first one I put on, mil spec, would not stay closed. Beyond that, I like everything about this upper receiver and have several hundred rounds through it. Very good billet upper for the price of many forged uppers.

its alright
DOES not have the engraved Dh like it showes makes me mad wait for parts for so long and they are not as pictured but its not bad quality its cool looking but it is not different enough from a milspec upper to buy another .

Very Good Billet Receiver
I wanted a billet receiver that would match with my JBO Spartan Billet lower. This upper had a perfect fit to my lower, no slop at all. As far as second cool, it looks awesome. I used SI dust cover and forward assist, no issues installing them.

Out of spec
I’d recommend getting some other upper that doesn’t have issues. The port door is completely out of spec. You literally have to press against it really hard to close. I tried it with a strike industries billet port door purposely for this billet upper - did not work. But I tried it on 2 of my other uppers with no issues. Plus, there’s no back logo as the picture stated. I really wanted to love this thing but now I have to spend more to get what I want.

Nicely built, but with compatibility issues
The machining and design looks nice, but the area forward of the ejection port and behind the barrel nut are not Mil-Spec dimensions.
As such, if you have a handguard with anti-rotation tabs or wraparound design, it may not fit. Some may see this as a "feature" because it's thicker where it supports the barrel extension, but compatibility with Mil-Spec dimensions is more important, I'd think.

great product
I've been looking for a billet upper receiver that was the right price range and not overly expensive. I came across dark hour defense upper receiver and the price was right!!! the fit and finish was spot on, it had extended feed ramps which is a plus. But over all if your in the market check out dark hour defense products.
