Sancho's Review of DoubleStar Lower Parts Kit

I installed this lower parts kit in my AR in november of 2020, and I am happy to say that the parts are holding up nicely. The finish on everything is nitride, I think. This makes it super easy to clean and maintain. Every part is holding up well and I don't see any signs of wear after about 1000 rounds on the rifle. You get a solid lower parts kit for what you pay. Everything is bagged up in colored bags to make installing it in a stripped lower a walk in the park. They even included a few extra pins (roll pin, detent pin).

The pistol grip is superior in quality to others I've seen in two different cheap lower parts kits, so that's a plus if you like the A2 style grip. I should not comment on the trigger, as I had to slightly modify mine to fit in an 80% lower I (poorly) milled out. It's a solid wall until mush, and then it breaks somewhere in there. No grit, though. I'm not a trigger connoisseur, in fact I really don't care, but I am curious if my experience correlates with what other reviewers have written. It could have been my milling, but the safety required a couple dozen flicks to start loosening up.

Overall, I would give this lower parts kit from Doublestar five stars. It's a standard, well-functioning group of parts from a quality company, so I am quite satisfied with what I've gotten for the money.
Pros:
  • good value
  • The finish is nice
  • Extra pins included
Cons:
  • grip is nothing special
  • grip screw requires a long allen key
Best Used for:
  • Mil-Spec Build
