Most Helpful Negative Review Doublestar Strongarm - Built to Last, and a bear to install
I lusted after these as soon as I saw the first one in a photo, then video. It looked so much more substantial than a Tailhook Model 1, which it undoubtedly IS in some respects. It is certainly heavier. It was a friggin' beast to install though. Neither the commercial diameter nor the mil-spec bu...

Great stock...*cough*... brace :D

by JustaNobody, Verified Owner from AZ, United States Written on May 17, 2024
This is an excellent brock, excellent stace, excellent bstace, excellent something you should never shoulder, but also sometimes, because 3 letters told you can, but you also can't as they said it.

Gladly for times that you do shoulder this, it is a hard aluminum, so hard in fact that it will never bend, it will never deform.
It's the most rigid piece of metal I ever owned for an AR, and it's well machined and polished. It's dense and not hollow.

I had it on my MK18 at home build, before the AFT fiasco, and braces becoming illegal, and becoming legal again in next month. At that point I disassembled my MK18 clone and moved on with my life lol

This brace is truly wonderful, and it served me well while I still had my MK18 imitation.
Thing to note: this WILL go on your rifle tube losely, so what you can do is roll electrical tape carefully 3-4 times around the rifle tube (not carbine buffer tube, rifle for A2 rifles) and it will allow you to create enough space to tighten the brace then as you push it on the electrical tape portion.

The way I managed to do my pistol was to use that long rifle tube with a spacer inside for JP Enterprises Silent Capture spring, then I filed the tab on end plate just a tiny bit. So, not to damage the threads on the rifle tube as you add the end plate before the rifle tube. It will actually work, and you can use regular buffer end plate in conjunction with
rifle tube that has no adjustment positions.

Then it makes your gun look like a SIG M...

Great product. 4 stars because

by AxG, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on July 7, 2020
Review is for Doublestar buffer tube with pistol brace. It weighs similar to some of the other braces available but it’s made from aluminum instead of polymer or rubber. Very solid with no flex. Mounting it slightly canted to one side before strapping it on allows your arm to be more in-line with the firearm to provide a much more secure, and stable single hand shooting position. Buffer tube design allows user to forego the castle nut, reducing some weight and one less part to worry about. Be aware that the endplate at the rear of the lower receiver that keeps the detent spring in place needs to the type that doesn’t have a key otherwise you can’t install the buffer tube properly. A QD endplate included would have been nice. Would have given 5 stars but the brace requires the use of the smaller 1.19” buffer tube. This product needs a version which fits the bigger 1.24++” diameter buffer tubes.

Double Star Strongarm

by Deez, from SC, United States Written on April 8, 2020
Buy this!! The Strongarm is by far the coolest (pistol brace) on the market. Made all aluminium, the width, length, and slight contour on both sides, makes this thing seat comfortably in the pocket of your (forearm). And it also comes with a nifty lil Velcro strap!
Pros:
  • Pulls a reach-around on system
Cons:
  • Costs a hundred bucks
Best Used for:
  • achieving your intended goal when bought a brace.

Nice brace

by Heed, from VT, United States Written on January 26, 2020
This is a nice brace, but honestly the fact that it's not adjustable for a longer length of pull is a huge downfall. After you see and feel an sba 3 in person it's a much better choice. I have no tried it on a midwest industries pbt to see if it fits, but that is the longest pbt in 7075 I could find.

This company and also gearhead works make their buffer tubes out of inferior 6061 aluminum. None of the top manufacturers use 6061 for very good reasons. 7075 is nearly twice as strong. I would recommend not using any 6061 buffer tubes.

Best brace out there

by Jordan, from KY, United States Written on March 30, 2019
The brace is made of quality machined aluminum. It's hefty and but not heavy. It's comfortable to shoot from any position. The brace is a really snug fit on my spikes tactical extend pistol buffer tube, but it went on and fits securely.
Pros:
  • Sturdy construction
Cons:
  • None
