I hope the Ed Brown skeletonized striker for my S&W Shield Plus was a defective piece. I don't want others to get one like this. It actually increased trigger weight by about 1/2lb while poundage varied on Lyman digital far more than on my two stock strikers. Also it had a v strange "slipping" feeling in the middle of the pull every so often. I demand consistency from my triggers and this striker failed miserably. I am returning it.
I will try some springs to further reduce pull weight and/or get another sear. I try one mod at a time so I know for sure how each mod affects the gun. I always polish.
The gun is stock except for an "Ultimate Striker Block" by Apex. I heartily recommend it. Not only did it smooth up the pull but reduced the pull weight by 1.2lbs. The S&W Shield Plus 9mm has a greatly improved trigger vs the earlier Shield model. I find it to be a natural pointer and quite accurate to 50+ yards with a Holosun HS507K X2. Without a red dot the short iron sight radius impairs accuracy. The Shield Plus with the Apex USB has about 3.4lbs pull weight at my competition pull speed and 4.8lbs with my much slower bullseye target pull speed. If only there was a 20oz 10 rd with a 1911 trigger.
FYI I do have some trigger experience. The year before I competed at the Nationals with my Jim Boland Colt 1911 (2lb trigger) I had shot almost 50,000 rounds in practice and competition with SWPL, Regionals, etc. Shot at least 3 full days a week and some evenings. Had lots and lots o...
