Gunsmith fit barrel
I bought this looking at the reviews saying that they don't want to "fit" a barrel to their 1911 pistol, but every model is different so I managed to fit this to my 1911 and it works very well. Just took a file to it and profiled it to my non threaded barrel. Gonna see how it works with a linear com...

Too short for use with common AAC Tirant suppressor.
The barrel needed way more than “minor fitting” to work in my 1911. Not a big deal as you can always take away material, but it’s a lot harder to add it. The issue is the OAL of the threaded barrel is too short. These barrels do not have the 0.65” clearance from the bushing to the end of the barrel....

High quality
Only needed minor filing of the rear lockup groove (used a automotive points file) Instructions on Ed Brown website were easy to understand. Fits perfectly now. Only took a few minutes at most to fit.

Ed Brown 5in barrel
I had to file a little off as the tolerances were a little to close for my Kimber Custom 2. Very accurate and tight fitting. Now just waiting for my suppressor to arrive.
Pros:
- almost perfect
Cons:
- Some filing required

Worked great!
Wanted a threaded barrel for my Colt. This one worked great with very little fitting and improved the accuracy noticeably. No, the thread protector was not the one in the picture, but it was way cooler. The correct one can be seen on EB website.

Too short for Suppressor
This took a fair bit of work to get it to fit. It was definitely not drop in ready, this was not a big issue as I expected some work. The issue came after it was all fitted and the suppressor hits the bushing and therefore can't thread all the way on. I reached out to Ed Brown and they said this was a known issue, they don't have any recommendations and I just need to look for an adapter. Well I purchased an adapter and had the same issue. I am now stuck with a barrel that I can't use for the whole purpose I purchased it for. You also cannot call and talk to anyone at Ed Brown everything has to go through email. Overall I wouldn't recommend at least not for BRP adapters or Silencer Central cans.

Not as shown in image
Mt he good came too small and required fitting which is fine and to be expected but the metal thread protector in the image is not accurate. It’s a black thread protector. As another review said, the hood is naturally too narrow which sucks for alignment.

Easy install
I was a little skeptical about it do to some of the reviews, but it is a really nice barrel. I put this in my Ruger sr1911. As the instructions say you may need to make adjustments. If you know how to use a file at all this will be easy. I had to file a little on one of the to lugs and that was it. It probably fits barely snugger than the original and it shoots great. Read the instructions before yo buy it if you don’t understand them or have a gunsmith to take it to you probably shouldn’t buy it.
Pros:
- Non read the instructions before you buy it
- Great fitting and shooting barrel
Cons:
- Non read the instructions
Best Used for:
- shooting
