Most Helpful Negative Review Does Not Fit Riley Defense AK
The customer service gear "specialist" said it was compatible with my RAK47-Classic, not even close. The product is well made, heavy duty, but it has to fit and when you get advice it will fit then doesn't it's the seller's fault, not the manufacturer. Do not buy this item for a Riley Defense AK. Fits PSA AKM like a glove.

by Brandon Purtle, Verified Owner from MO, United States Written on June 13, 2025
There is a learning curve to installation and unfortunately, no instructions are included. After a couple of you tube videos I was able to install. It was a super tight fit. In fact, after 50 rounds, my Vortex Spark optic held zero without fail. Aesthetically, it looks great and doesn’t look anachronistic on a traditional wood furniture AKM.
Pros:
  • Fit and finish. Holds zero
Cons:
  • Pricey. No instructions
Best Used for:
  • Optic mounting solution for modern AKM

Fits Arsenal - just barely

by AJ, Verified Owner from MO, United States Written on March 1, 2025
Installing on an Arsenal milled receiver it seems the forward lip was just a micron too thick to allow it to go fully forward. Did not want to touch it with a file, voiding any return. Gave it a few whacks with a firm rubber mallet, so close but no luck. Took it to my gun guru. He fiddled a while, then finally grabbed a nylon hammer and started giving it the baby seal treatment. I was beginning to freak out a little, but relieved when it snapped into place. Followed up with very light file work. A bigger hammer is always the answer.

Not Cut To Spec

May need gunsmith for PSA AKs

by AZR, from AZ, United States Written on January 7, 2025
Bought this because I really like the look of the dust cover and wanted picitanny rails for my ak. Couldn’t find any info on whether it fit on PSA Aks so I decided to just find out myself. Did not fit my PSA 556 Ak (Also called AR-K) need to send to gun shop for fitting. Maybe different PSA patterns may work but at least for the one I have it does not

Doesn’t fit an arsenal samr7-61

by Floyd, Verified Owner from AK, United States Written on December 26, 2024
Seems like a well made product but unfinished as far as the machining they shouldn’t advertise it as no smithing required. Where the front of the cover fits into the curved slot of the barrel trunnion above the bolt carrier, was to thick and needs to be shaved down my experience anyway. Ended up buying a cover from Texas weapon systems and this will go in a box for a someday maybe build super disappointing! And really expensive for what you get.
Pros:
  • Seems well made
Cons:
  • Really Really! Expensive and some fitting probably required
Best Used for:
  • Paper weight or a really expensive figit toy for your desk

Dust cover for mounting optics

by Ben, Verified Owner from MI, United States Written on December 19, 2024
I am very happy with the very tight fit of this on my arsenal sam7sf. It has no play whatsoever and looks like a very nice piece. The 2 points of contact on the front is held in by spring pressure from the top of the botton part where the rear sight lays and has the portion that slides into the space where the standard part of the receiver cover goes into, and the rear portion is tightened down on the recoil guide rod takedown lever. No play whatsoever and I highly recommend this product.

Like a Glove!

by Airborne Infantry, Verified Owner from HI, United States Written on September 11, 2024
It fits like a glove! I have a Romanian AK-47 and the FAB Defense AK/AKM Picatinny Scope-Mount Dust Cover went on pretty easy. The only thing is, you have to adjust a little flywheel in the back-top-underneath of the cover to slide over the square thingy of the Ak-47. Once you get the right setting to fit over the square thingy, then you readjust the flywheel to lock in the rail. It's badass! I'm totally happy!

It Does Not Hold Zero

by Lute Guy, Verified Owner from AL, United States Written on September 7, 2024
As the title says, I do not recommend this dust cover if you want your optic to hold zero. The retention screw that clamps the dust cover down on the recoil spring guide rod's notch will shake loose after only a handful of shots (5.56), which I tested by drawing lines on the screw with a paint pen. Additionally, if you place any large optic such as a LPVO on your rail, it becomes much more difficult to take on/off as you will likely struggle to push down on the clamp at the front of the dust cover when reinstalling the dust cover. For sheer aesthetics and the ability to keep your rear sight, I love it, but functionally it is useless for any caliber you're likely to find an AK chambered in.
Pros:
  • Aesthetically awesome
Cons:
  • DOES NOT HOLD ZERO
  • Finicky
Best Used for:
  • Airsoft

FAB Defense Scope Dust Cover

by John Iuzzini, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on March 30, 2024
I read all the reviews before I bought it and watched UTube videos of how to install it, the problem is that it does not fit on a Riley Defense AK 47. Without doing some grinding which I am not going to do. I am going to return it and recommend that anyone with a Riley AK47 stay clear of buying it.i am a regular customer of Optic and I hope I get a quick refund.

  • None
Cons:
  • Does not fit a Riley Ak47
