KP's Review of FailZero AR10 .308 Bolt Carrier Group (BCG)

Put this in an Aero M5 build a few months ago. With the lockdown, I was just able to get it out to the range July 6. The Aero was all Aero, except for this bolt, paired with a Strike Industries charging handle. I had nothing but issues. Literally every round was jamming up. Brought it home, and disassembled the gas system to see if there was a gas issue, nothing found. Checked out all the magazines, no issues. Went back to the range on July 11 and loaded single rounds in my mags. Turns out, it was the extractor. It just wasn't working, at all, 100% of the time. The empty round would barely come out of the chamber and would just sit in the open chamber above the magazine. The Range Officer helped me verify it by watching me fire, just ZERO extraction. Turns out that the extractor spring that is in this POS is underpowered. I called Fail100 when I got home, and left a message. Understand they were likely off on the weekend. Monday and Tuesday went by, and no return call. Called and left another message today. In the mean time, I ordered a Sprinco double extractor spring set after my initial call on Saturday. It came today (tuesday) and I installed it. It is much stiffer now, and I hope it stands up to the 308 round and provides me with the reliability of feeding that I am looking for. For the money I paid for this bolt, I would expect a better extractor spring that could hold up to the round it was supposedly designed for. After this experience, I regret not going with the cheaper, more reliable Aero bolt. I will not buy another Fail100 product if this is the way they skimp on costs and ignore their customers calling them for support. On top of the $225 I paid for this bolt, I spent another $10 for an upgraded spring, when I could have gotten the Aero for $50 cheaper and not had to spend the extra 10. So I paid $60 extra for a cool logo, and two wasted range trips. Shame on you FailZero.
