.224 Valkyrie
Bought this 1/6.5” twist to replace the original 1/7” twist barrel I purchased over a year ago. Wasn’t able to do a full reloading work up prior of this years MN Whitetail deer season. So I purchased two boxes of Federal Fusion 90 grain hunting ammunition! Shot most of one box to get an understanding of this barrel accuracy.

Not the one...
I really hoped that this one would be the one to use the 90g Bergers long range but after several attempts with different loads, powders and good projectiles it hardly got better than 2 moa. If you use lighter bullets you can probably get 1 moa but that isn't what the larger case was designed to do. I can do that simply with a 223. I have tried to revive the 224 Valkyrie dream and I can't seem to find a good barrel in the budget range with 6.5 twist. I have a Wilson that does ok but not with long distance accuracy. I see that the other reviews are higher here and am somewhat surprised. Am I expecting too much from a sub $300 barrel? For looks this barrel gets a 4.75 star review but just can't get that long range out of it due to accuracy issues. This is my first shot at a Faxon barrel and I wouldn't consider another based on the price because of the 2+ moa.

Great barrel
I have the 20 inch barrel with 6.5" twist. Extremely accurate (1/2 moa) with factory hornady 60 grain vmax.Barrel has a great finish and good fluting. Fits very tight in the upper i have it in. Everything works great.

Faxon Firearms .224 Valkyrie Heavy Fluted Profile Barrel
The barrel is well-made, however there are a couple of mechanical issues with it. First, the gas hole is tiny and difficult to align since there are no dimples in the bottom side of the barrel. Second, the gas hole lines up with the flutes, not the upper receiver. When the barrel is seated to the upper receiver, the top flute and gas hole should be aligned with the top and it's not. This means that when the gas block is located accurately, it is slightly off-center of the top of the upper receiver. I don't believe this misalignment is enough to affect the operation of the gas tube inside the upper receiver, but I have yet to try the rifle.

Awesome Valkyrie barrel
This is the real deal in Valkyrie barrels, 24” long and 1-6.5 twist. The quality and workman ship show through on every detail of this barrel. This shoots 95’s with ease at supersonic speed to +1 mile. Plus it looks so killer
