At first I had issues but the 308 ar I put it in was wayyyy overgassed, paired it with a superlative arms adjustable gas block, tuning, and a faxxon 308 20” flame fluted barrel I got perfect results! Couldn’t be happier!

I use Faxon items alot, from BCG’s to Barrels. Simply put, great products. I will continue to use their products and continue to shop the great deals available at Optics Planet.

Here is my dilemma... Bolt Catch would not engage bolt in a Faxon upper/lower. 8.6 blackout build, and took it to a gunsmith to assemble. The smith told me it's a design flaw, so I basically have an AK. Now, Faxon has a good reputation, and makes excellent barrels. I am happy with all the Faxon parts in the 8.6 build except for their bolt carrier groups. I also have a Faxon lightweight 5.56 bcg sitting in my parts bag. It has a weird (firing pin)>retaining pin. Very stiff to put back in, and it protrudes more than what I normally am used to. No biggie, I will probably throw it in a build once I get the adjustable gas block for it.(recommended) I second guessed myself what if the bolt catch is the problem? So, I took a .308 LMT BCG and threw it in the 8.6 build. The bolt catch engaged the bolt with no problems. Also the Faxon bolt was getting scrape marks from pulling the charging handle. The fitment just wasn't there. Maybe I got a Faxon bcg lemon. Decided to return it, and OpticsPlanet was stellar in their services giving me a store credit. As much as I love LMT, I'm can't afford to toss $600 again for a range toy. Going to give cryptic a try this time. Heard they are pretty good BCG's. Just putting this out there for any new AR-10 builders. AR-10 builds can be very finicky when it comes to compatibility. Hence, I used Faxon on Faxon parts. Geissele trigger because they're my favorite. La Rue gets a close second on triggers. I'll still buy Faxon parts, just not BCG's until ...

The fit and finish is great.
every so often the ar 10 bcg was closing all the way. Would go like 95-99% of the way home and hang up.
The bolt carrier came with two orings and a dual spring set up. Then amount of force required to get the extractor claw over the lip of the case was too much and the gun would randomly hang up.
I took one oring out and it's been perfect. Just a heads up if you have issues. I was running a 308 spring and buffer.

Well, I dont usually have this problem, but this BCG came in a plastic bag. The BCG had fallen out of the molded plastic packaging. This big hunk of steel was just flopping around, tearing the bag up. I was extremely upset to see how it was delivered. Now the good part. Other than a few nicks on the bolt lugs this thing is in perfect condition. The coating on it is extremely durable and I expect it will last for many years.

Well packaged. Ready for a new build. Since the the BCG is not an area to skimp on when building or upgrading a rifle—prioritize proven manufacturers and attention to detail for consistent performance. Faxon gets it!

Well machined piece (retired machinist), fits well to barrel. Haven't & won't be able to test for some time. Packaging could be better, thr product put holes in the blisterpak from bouncing around in the box,no apparent damage to part.

Overall it is what it is. However, when I was taking it apart for the first cleaning, the firing pin retaining pin was very difficult to get back, first time ever having this problem before, so I I had to file down the prong end a little to get it to go all the way back in.
