Most Helpful Positive Review The best barrel to go with an ultralight AR10 build

Bought this barrel because I wanted the lightest AR10 possible that didnt sacrifice any accuracy or functionality. Because of that, I ended up getting the 20" pencil barrel for my build since I always believed 20" is the sweet spot for 308. The barrel had no issues fitting into the receiver once I lubed it a tiny bit and it headspaced perfectly, not that I needed to headspace it. I have yet to shoot with it but if the fit and finish is any indication, I have no doubts I made the right choice in my barrel selection

Light barrel shoots well

I bought this barrel for an AR10 battle rifle build. I went with the pencil profile to try and save a little weight. This barrel shoot quite well for a pencil profile. The finish is great and the tolerances are spot on. Headspace is perfect, gas block surface is a tight .750dia. Threads are also tight. Great bbl for the price and weight.

Great, lightweight barrel

This barrel shaved off 11.7oz from my PSA P10 (gen 3). The 16" PSA barrel alone weighs 2lb 9oz for reference. It should do well for me out in the deer woods.

Great Barrel

Faxon .308 pencil barrel is a great choice and budget friendly for anyone looking to lighten up their AR10. I had a full aero precision build including their 20” stainless steel barrel. Aero makes a great barrel as well, but my goal was to make a hunting/long range rifle. The faxon shaved about 3 lbs off the front end which may not seem like much, but for me is a night and day difference. Was shooting about 1 MOA groups after sighting in my new scope as well. If you aren’t rapid firing and looking for a light weight component to an AR10 build I’d recommend this barrel.

Must buy for hunting rifle build!

Finished this rifle in December last year and finally got a chance to test it in the field. Aero upper, lower, and hand guard vortex tactical 4-16 moa scope, lantac bcg, and the faxon 20” pencil 308 barrel. Shot it all summer getting sub moa groups at 100 yards with federal premium 168 grain sierra match king bullets. I dumped a whitetail buck at 322 yards Sunday morning and my cousin dropped a muley tonight at 477

Lightweight and durable

Package came in as described and for a 308 barrel at 18" for a rifle length gas setup the barrel is really nice and lightweight. The barrel had very very minimal grease coating on it and none on the thread for the muzzle break which is perfect because there are other brand barrels where it is just drenched in oil or grease making it more of a work to clean it all off to install the muzzle break for a clean metal to metal contact.

Amazingly light!

This barrel is ultra profiled. I was blown away how light it is. If you feel your .308 is a bit front heavy or a bit much to pack this is your answer you will shave a good deal of front weight. Also good for compensating for accessories.

faxon 308 pencil

Faxon is a quality company ,the 20inch 308 pencil shoots a half a minute angle cold and there is no impact shift with a hot barrel 3/4 in hot. They sure know how to stress relief a barrel .having 20 in barrel with this profile and shoot as good as it does is hard to beat on a ar 10 build. Installed on a M5E1 upper with no problems with a Faxon low profile gas block .Great barrel.

Excellent piece as always!

This beautiful barrel is exactly what you would expect from Faxon. Excellent quality, finish, etc, and as light as possible! Matches beautifully with my Brigand Arms carbon fiber fore end. This also matched up in spec out of the box with a Faxon BCG too which is always nice!
