Remember that movie? Well, it has nothing to do with this review! The Fenix HL50 was a researched headlamp I thought would be comparable to the Streamlight Sidewinder Military Compact II Flashlight (model 14513). The head strap is comfortable and easy to adjust and the light system itself is brighter than the Streamlight. It has a dual output capability as the Sidewinder but doesn't include either AA or CR123A battery, which makes the $49 price tag that much more conflicting. The light frame requires adding or removing an attachment that allows battery interchangeability. The power switch is programmable, which allows an alternate-on feature. Pressing the switch once illuminates either a high or low setting, or whatever setting you last turned the device off at. It takes getting used to.
Pros:
- Lightweight
- bright
- interchangeable
- Programmable
Cons:
- Batteries not included
- Not intuitive
Best Used for:
- Outdoor activities
- Indoor activities
Would recommend: No
Great headlamp
The HL50 has a nice white light that makes everything clear and easy to see. The strap is easily adjustable and holds well. The way the light is secured to the strap keeps it in place. It is great for hands free work.
Pros:
- Nice fit and finish
- nice light color
Cons:
- None yet!
Would recommend: Yes
real nice and useful
smaller than I thought, which is nice. adjustability is very good also. Nice and bright, but not intensely bright. good for jogging, but I think you would like a bit more for biking. I wish burst mode could be locked on.
