Most Helpful Positive Review Works well if you take the time to 'dial it in'
I have used different brands of bore lasers in the past, some with sleeves, some that insert at the muzzle. This unit, which is caliber specific, ensures that there is no margin of error as is found with the units that utilize sleeves or crowns that are not 'true'. This unit only requires two batt...

Most Helpful Negative Review Sadly, no use to me.
I purchased the Firefield Laser Bore Sight in .308wn for my Sako A7. The price was good, and the bore sight arrived in good packaging with instructions, battery, a paper target etc. However the laser is not visible in daylight, any further than perhaps 15-20m on a shaded surface, I have had 5mW re...

Firefield laser bore sight

by Horse Shoe, Verified Owner from LA, United States Written on September 3, 2025
This is the most practical bore sight tool.
It works fine as long as you have a properly crowned and true bore barrel.
The magnet is very strong and will stay on the barrel, then is a matter of pointing the light to a wall at a distance of 20 to 30 feet, and adjusting the scope or sights to match the light point of impact.
It will get the shots on a 18" circle at 25 yards.
For rifles with flash devices, it is best to remove the flash device and then attach the laser directly to the bore.
Pros:
  • practical
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • target

Laser all over the place / no good

by Patstone, Verified Owner from SC, United States Written on November 22, 2024
You can't see the laser past 25yds. The laser wouldn't even show up on paper at 25yds. Finally sighted in rifle looking down the bore. Trash can for this one!

Learn intended use first

by Horse Shoe, Verified Owner from LA, United States Written on February 3, 2024
I loved this product and I own two of them. I use it to bore sight every AR build that I assemble, and most pistols or rifles without muzzle devices.
My Instructions:
1) Bore sight before installing the muzzle device otherwise the magnet will not lay square to the bore
2) Bore sight at a distance of about 10 to 15 yards that will get "on paper 81/2 x 11 inch" at 25 yards. Sighting the gun after that is up to the shooter.
3) It is critical for the magnet sit flat against the barrel crown ... if the muzzle device is installed and is hard to remove, then do the following - only applies to AR rifles:
A) Separate the UPPER from the LOWER assemblies - If you need my instructions on how to do that please proceed no further.
B) Remove the Bolt Carrier Group (BCG) from the upper, keep the bolt extended forward (should be as it was extracted from the receiver)
C) Attach the laser magnet to the bolt face and center it with your fingers (they are about the same diameter size)
D) Turn the laser ON. Carefully re-insert the BCG into the receiver, but do not press or push hard, guide the BCG in and look for the laser to perfectly shine on any near wall surface. NOTE: The BCG will not go totally in as it has the laser attached to the head.
E) Move the BCG in & out until a perfect laser dot shines through the barrel against a wall.
F) If I have to explain how to sight your iron sight or scope .... proceed no further.
g) And this is how to BORE SIGHT a rifle.
Pros:
  • Multiple applications
Cons:
  • requires user skil and thinking
Best Used for:
  • rough sighting

Totally sucks.

by Capn Chips, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on March 17, 2023
This item does not stay flush on standard flash suppressors. Microscopic instructions mention an adapter plate, but these are no longer included apparently. Instead I attached it by taping it on. The aim is completely off! Ended up wasting more ammo (totally defeating it's purpose) with this dumb thing, and having to sight-in using traditional methods.
Pros:
  • none - does not nor will ever work
Cons:
  • Worthless waste of money.
  • Frustrating.
  • Embarrassed at range when people saw what I had.
Best Used for:
  • Nothing. No legitmate purpose. Radical groups might find them useful trying to blind LE during riots.

Buyer's Remorse. Not impressed.

by Capn Chips, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on December 9, 2022
I can't recommend this for guns with a muzzle brake or flash suppressor. The instructions talk about an adapter plate for muzzle "breaks" *sp. that should magnetize and help the bore sight stick to the muzzle. No plate is included! I will contact the company and see if they will send me a plate. Other reviews I've seen talk about taping the stupid thing on, which should be unnecessary IMO. Includes microscopic instructions and 2-year-old batteries. Pretty lame so far.
Pros:
  • Inexpensive
Cons:
  • Will require "rigging"
Best Used for:
  • Cat toy.

Laser Was Mis-Aligned

by B, Verified Owner from ME, United States Written on June 14, 2022
I really wanted to like this product. At first it seemed to work. However, when I took it out to the range and lined in up at 25 yards, the dot would go on the paper, but NEVER in the middle. I would attach the laser magnet and it held well and was perfectly in the middle of the rifle barrel. What should have been straight at 25 yards from the bore was not. Then, I would simply rotate the laser upon axis on the bore. The laser dot would then go to a completely different location on the paper, which did not make any sense. There was no possible way of using this laser to ZERO the rifle with scope. I then noticed that the laser was actually mounted OFF CENTER inside the metal housing. This laser is a neat idea. But mine was defective. I can't recommend this laser. The manufacturer should know you can't just slap a laser inside a magnetic housing like this and not engineer how it aligns because it will make a difference on the paper. 25 yards isn't that difficult to make work.
Pros:
  • Magnet is a great idea
Cons:
  • Does not work
  • Urine Poor Engineering

no adapter plate was included like the directions mentioned

by T-Bone, from WA, United States Written on March 30, 2022
In the directions, it states it comes with an adapter plate for ARs. Mine did not. I had to use a washer to center the magnet in the AR barrel. Otherwise, it worked as advertised. It gets you close enough and saves you some ammo in the zeroing in process. Besides that, only a person comfortable in their own skin will whip this baby out at the gun range!
