Most Helpful Positive Review Pleased Buyer
Wasn't overly familiar with Firefield. Gave it a try and was pleased. Scope was mounted on a Ruger 10/22 and worked as advertised with no major issues. Compact, sturdy and looks great. Functioned as advertised. Overall, I'm pleased with the purchase.
Most Helpful Negative Review Do not purchase
Scope looks awesome all the way until you try and look through it. Your eyeball Has to be less than 2 inches away from the glass and strains your vision only after a few seconds. 1.5x magnifier made the vision foggy. The ONLY “plus” about this scope is that the reticle stays black even if the scope ...

It's a prism scope: expect limited eye relief

by rradke, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on November 27, 2023
All the negative reviews seem to be by people who have never used a prism scope. The eye relief on my 2 units is the same: ~2.5 inches. Look at the ACOG: eye relief is 1.5in. Your nose should be just on the charging handle on AR15/AR10 with scope mounted on back slot. All the vets serving since about 2000 know this. It's fine for 5.56, if you stance and hold is good, recoil will not slam your eye and you'll lock in the parallax on center. Field of view is over 35ft at 100m which is better than most optical scopes at 3x. Why? Prism optics. You pay for that field of view with eye relief. It's physics, can't be changed. Same as the ACOG or other similar prism scopes. 3x magnifiers for red dots have similar eye relief.

Only real fault it has (it's $100 scope!) is they misstate the markings, which are etched, the outer ring is probably 37.5 MOA with a 4 MOA dot. Also, at night with higher illumination, you can clearly see that the etched reticle has a slight sheen that shows as a red-lit haze. Doesn't effect vision in daylight but it will show against a dark background. Even my > $2k show some background light on the reticles with high powered illumination. The optics are otherwise very clear and bright. Yes the weird thong style cover is too long by 2 inches, just wrap it around the scope, it's fine.

Shoot with both eyes open and use illumination in daylight. Fun fact, the center line of this scope is about 38mm so lots of options for clip-on NV with the etched reticle.
Pros:
  • clear glass
  • good value
Cons:
  • LED light will show the etched glass face is imperfect
  • Incorrect specs on dimension of circle+dot
Best Used for:
  • AR15 5.56 rifles

Looks nice but very deceiving...

by Unhappy, Verified Owner from CT, United States Written on May 1, 2022
Don't buy this, you've been warned !! Eye relief is awful. dot is very hard to see in daylight, illumination is almost non existent.
Very hard to focus too. I can't get 200 words in this review without seeming negative.

Cons:
  • everything

No eye relief

by Dec, Verified Owner from NM, United States Written on April 28, 2022
This has about 2 inches of eye relief.
Will only b good on a .22.
Do not expect to put it on anything with recoil.
If you can get close enough it works good but recoil will hit you... i put it on ar15 as far back as i could and still cannot get full field sight..

Firefield 3x30 red dot scope

by Jacob, from TN, United States Written on April 3, 2022
Absolutely wonderful product. Showed up on time and works beautifully. Will definitely be recommending this one to my buddies and more than likely buying more. It has a very nice weight to it and feels like it can surely take a lickin and keep on tickin.

Waste of money

by Nogvb, from NJ, United States Written on April 3, 2022
After 100 round, it would not sight in. I got it home and Tossed it in the trash. I would not waste you money on this red dot. It was no wonder why this was on sale. They should pay you because of the time, has, and ammo you waste trying to get this red dot to sight in.

2 cm eye relief

by Wind, Verified Owner from NJ, United States Written on March 18, 2022
The description says 70mm eye relief, which is about 2.75 inch. When I trief it, I found it is only 20 mm (less than 0.8 inch). I couldn't believe, tried again in day light, outdoor, to confirmed what I found. Unit otherwise seems to be well constructed, lense clear, but sub inch eye relief is a killer for me.

Colonel Klink's Monocle had more eye relief than this!

by graphchrono, from FL, United States Written on March 18, 2022
This thing has so little eye relief that my eyelashes had to touch the lens to see the full field of view, which makes it unusable as an optic even on a low-recoil air rifle or a .22LR. A real shame since it appears well-built otherwise. Also, the rubber lens cover meant to stretch over the sight was over an inch too long, so it just falls off. Sometimes one just has to admit to oneself that they got ripped off.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • unusable - insufficient eye relief
Best Used for:
  • as a bad example.

by Todd Steger, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on March 16, 2022
Your eye has to be an inch to 2 inch away to be able to use it if you use it normally this view Circle of view is much larger than the red dot circle thought maybe I was doing something wrong to you I read the reviews here and yeah I got suckered into it on sale very disappointed very unhappy don’t think I’ll buy it from OpticsPlanet again

****DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! WORTHLESS PAPER WEIGHT!!! ******

by Tim, Verified Owner from GA, United States Written on March 16, 2022
I received this yesterday and I should have read the reviews. I can not return it now per OP. Your eyeball has to be less than an inch away from the eyepiece to see a SMALL part of the illumination. This is the worst scope of any type I have ever had, seen, or read about. TRUST ME, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • all around Bad
Best Used for:
  • paper weight

Most expensive CR2032 Battery I've ever bought

by Tyler, from UT, United States Written on March 15, 2022
Admitted in the guide that this is for low-recoil firearms only (air guns, 17hmr, 22) which is hilarious because my air rifle was powerful enough to scope two of my daughters. So if you bought this for a higher powered firearm than a plinker, into the trash it goes. Save on urgent care costs for your eye socket.

Glass is terrible, can't see through it at all, even worse when it's turned on. Even worse worse with the added 1.5x additional magnifier.

They're not kidding about the eye relief. It's practically a monocular.

I have bought a $20 4x cheap scope for my daughter to practice on versus iron sights and it's better than this. Luckily I bought it when it was $50 so it was a risk and now it's going in the trash.

Learn from my investigative work - DON'T BUY IT
Pros:
  • Nothing
Cons:
  • No eye relief
  • Dirty Dark Glass
  • Very heavy for a light rifle
Best Used for:
  • trash
