Most Helpful Positive Review flir ps32 scout
thermal technology is incredible. It can be used in total darkness. I hesitated purchasing this unit because of the internal rechargeable battery. Rechargeable batteries wear out over time, and I would have liked an easily replaceable battery when the internal battery wears out. Thermal imagery is new to me, I'm pleased with the ps32 scout. Pros: small size, easy to use Cons: it has an internal battery.

Great product

This is a very versatile tool for tracking game in thick brush or in the rain when blood trails are impossible to follow. Usable for day and night tracking, however the alert mode during day time use can be deceiving during high temperature days with radiating heat being given off of multiple objects.

If I had to do it over, I would not have bought this product for $$$$

by Rocichet Rabbit, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on February 24, 2015
This product does not meet the expectations that I had in my mind after researching the product and watching all the videos. At almost three thousand dollars I wish I could send it back. Unless you just have money to burn, don't make an impulse purchase like I did. The image is grainy, pixelated and sometimes stutters when scanning a wide area rapidly. It comes with no manual only a laminated Quick Start Guide and some software that I have no idea what it is for. When going on a hunting trip I would rather take batteries with me for the product rather than looking for an electrical plug or a USB port to plug the unit into for hours to recharge. I guess I was also expecting the unit to be better at distance than it is. If you want to find your cat in your yard its good to go. Spotting a neighbor standing against a warm block wall 200 feet away was difficult. If this product was $500 I would be pleased with my purchase. Thats all it worth to me.
Pros:
  • cool factor
Cons:
  • price
Best Used for:
  • entertainment

Great unit so far

by Buzz, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on July 30, 2014
I have only had the unit for a month but I am impressed with it. Power-up is reasonably fast. Like others I was concerned with an internal battery but I have used it up to 3 hours continuous with no problem. The InstAlert is great. I had another thermal unit of equal price but different brand. The image quality was not as good and the unit failed after 6 months. I am sold on the FLIR brand for quality in thermal imagery.

See the Invisible

by Legacy Reviewer, from TX, United States Written on December 12, 2013
I am retired, nearly deaf, and live out in the sticks on a small Texas ranch. I can't hear the coyotes, hogs, and varmits: nor can I tell sound direction. I chose the PS32 from FLIR to help me regain the ability to know what is out there in the dark. What it sees is nothing short of amazing. I can see goat sized animals moving across the fields at 400 yards and see small birds roosting in dense cedar trees up close and unseeable with a white light headlight. You can see the heat from the nail heads under coats of paint on the house siding on a cool evening. You can stand a few seconds on a cool wooden porch, step away and see the outline of your shoes in the heat they left on the boards. Touch something cool and see the heat left from your hand. Sit in your recliner and view the ceiling and see where the batts of insulation are sticking up a bit at the corners in the unseen joist spaces.
For hunting, we used it to search for a deer after after a late day archery shot. You can see through dense cedars on a black night to see the heat of the silhouette jack rabbits and cotton tails hiding in the thick stuff. You can see the heat on the trunks of trees and rocks on the ground. I can see the water level in my rain water tanks, the water up high shows warmer than the water at the bottom. All this is visible looking at the outside of the large black poly tanks.
You can choose white hot, black hot. and 4 levels of red highlight on hotter areas to match your ambient conditions. ...
