Most Helpful Positive Review Great addition to your hunting bag
I've used this more than anything else in my hunting bag. Getting to the stand earlier and staying later is much more interesting now. I can easily detect deer at 100 yards and animals at 200+ years.
Most Helpful Negative Review I expected better from a $2000 item
image is very fuzzy ,( and yes I adjusted the diopter ) other reviews said I would be amazed at the clarity, I admit looking at my dog from 10 feet away in a dark room looks cool, but outside during the day looking across my yard about 75 ft I could barely make out my neighbors cat, and that was o...

FLIR Scout 240

by RandyS, from CA, United States Written on August 5, 2017
The FLIR Scout 240 III functions as well as stated. However understand that this model has no magnification available. If your eyesight is less than 20/20 you may have issues seeing clearly through this monocular. Also specifications state man detect at 382 yards. If this is accurate, which is questionable, you will not be able to distinguish exactly what you are looking at. At that distance notable features are not evident. Also keep in mind that there many variables that can effect image clarity. Recently I tested this monocular on a herd of cattle at varying distances. With the ambient temperature at about 95 degrees, the difference between the cattle's body temperature and its surroundings apparently was not enough to create a clear image. At 200 yards several cattle blended in with their surroundings. At fifty yards a single calf was somewhat noticeable, but only because I had seen it first with a naked eye. Depending on what your purpose is for purchasing this item you may want to spend the extra money and go with the FLIR 320 or 640. This model is what I would consider basic entry level and may disappoint those expecting more.
Pros:
  • well built
  • controls function well
Cons:
  • image clarity suffers
  • no magnification available
Best Used for:
  • Game Recovery
