Jando Rones's Review of FM Products FM-45 AR .45 Rear Charging Upper Reciever, 5 inch w/ Blast Diffuser

Another reviewer indicated that he received his upper with a shorter handguard, I can confirm that the handguard comes with two rows of M-Lok slots and comes as pictured and described.

It's a solidly constructed unit with a high qauality bolt carrier group.

This upper is quite hefty for such a compact unit, but a heavy caliber like .45 Auto demands it.

I paired this with Foxtrot Mike's FM45 lower receiver, and it's a match made in heaven, as both the upper and lower fit very well together with little, if any, space between them.

The lower comes with a nylon screw to help secure the upper and lower, which is not expected.

For a value brand, I have to say I was quite impressed with the overall quality of the entire build, the lower comes with more features than you'd expect, with a last round bolt hold open feature, and even the ability to make the bolt release ambidextrous, provided you have an upper that has a notch for it, which this upper does NOT have, so be aware.

The entire upper is made of high quality materials, and the combined firearm is very comfortable to hold. It's a meaty gun for a meaty caliber.

If I had to nitpick, it would be about the charging handle. It's your run of the mill milspec charging handle, and I immediately swapped it out with a Rise Armament one to give the gun a more aggressive appearance.

Be sure to match this upper with an appropriate buffer system. The FM45 lower comes with a rifle length buffer tube, a heavier buffer, and a .308 buffer spring to accomdodate the demands of a blow back system, which is common in all PCC's, and higher caliber rounds demand it.

Foxtrot Mike's manual (included in the package) states that PCC's need to be run pretty wet, and this upper comes well lubricated out of the box to meet the demands of the .45 Auto caliber.

Overall, highly recommended.

This was my first time with Foxtrot Mike and I'm extremely impressed with the overall quality at such a low price point.

I matched the upper and lower, with all required parts to make a fully functioning firearm for a little over $500.

I haven't taken this build to the range yet, but I'm sure I won't have any issues considering the quality construction of this unit.
Pros:
  • Build quality
Cons:
  • Boring Charging Handle
