Good idea, poor execution - FM Products Foxtrot Mike Premium Match Grade 2 Stage Competition AR-15 Trigger Group

I bought this trigger expecting it to be close to the Rock River, but smoother because of the Nickel-Boron finish. I returned it because the first stage is very gritty & short (feels like the creep on a run-of-the-mill "MIL-Spec" single-stage trigger that comes with just about every pre-built rifle or lower kit). The second stage is heavier than I expected, but crisp (other than low price, this is the only positive I found). All my builds are triggered with Geissele and Rock River 2-stage triggers. Both of these brands are well worth their prices (RR only a few $ more than this FMP trigger). As a High Power Rifle Master Classified shooter and AR operator in just about every other type of shooting, I know my triggers, and the FMP failed to live up to my standards - even with its low price.

It would be nice if FMP evaluated the geometries of the trigger & hammer to give a slightly longer first stage, and polished the surfaces before applying the Ni-B coating. Maybe their Gen 2 (that is the trend with so many companies who need to improve their products) Groups will be better. I will never know.
