I would prefer the gun to ride a little lower down, and to be able to adjust the cant. Other than that, I'm very satisfied. The construction seems first rate. I was also very impressed with the sales rep who helped me place my order.

plastic mount has a little hook/catch that doesn't grab to anything.

if worn on the inside - clothing will stop it from catching the belt and your gun comes up covered by this holster - or you can hope your clothing bunches up and catches plastic hook.

if worn outside the clothing and inside the belt - the plastic hook has a better chance to catch the belt - but this will depend on the angle of your draw - pull out to the side and the plastic hook will clear the belt - go past the forward kant and you will twist the plastic hook off - results are the same - gun comes up covered by holster - or maybe your gun clears and the holster flys out towards your target.

I have other Galco products for three of my rigs - this one was the first Galco product i bought that sucks.

Cant return - worn the leather breaking it in thinking the plastic hook will work after the fact - I should have read the bad reviews - so here is another one.

Perfect fit to handgun and color is great. When wearing it, it fits very close and holds the weapon tight in place. I use this holster for concealed carry and training at the range. I would recommend this holster to anyone.

Great holster S&W 36. Followed instructions placing gun in plastic bag then inserted into holster slightly stretching it out. 100 % AMERICAN MADE!!! Leather is superior to nylon. Originally ordered the wrong one the ease of the free return was A+

I have several Galco products and they are all terrific.!! I have several holsters but Galco makes great leather products.
Dealing with Optics Planet has been easy and if I have questions they have the answers.

I recently purchased a Galco Speed Paddle Holster (GC-HT-SPDPDLH-SPD158). However, I find the paddle almost useless. If worn between the inside and outside of the belt (Uncle Mike's, 1 1/2" Instructor's belt), there is too much vertical play before the hook grabs the belt when drawing the weapon. There is also some side-to-side play that only the belt loops stop. I have also tried wearing the paddle INSIDE the pants and outside the belt. This is much more secure, but the hook on the paddle has nothing to engage inside the pants. If the hook was on the holster facing the belt, this would be a perfect solution. Safariland paddles work this way. They are also a lot wider and form fitting for additional stability when drawing the weapon.

I contacted Galco and they said "Look for our new models!". How's that for customer service!

Normally not a fan of high-ride holsters, but recently discovered the Longmire TV series. Gotta love a Sheriff that carries a 1911A1 from his Vietnam service when everyone else is geared up with the latest gee-gaws! Was impressed with the holster he used, did some research and found it was a Galco. Having worked at Cabela's for 6 years in Product Information, I knew this is a great brand. I've ordered from Optics Planet before and have been real happy with their service. Ordered it on 11/6 (2 minutes after midnight!) and got it today, 11/8! So far I am really liking it.
Fits my 1918 produced 1911 nicely right out of the package.
My Gold Cup National Match 1911 is a tighter fit, but since it is almost mint it won't be seeing time in this holster. I just put it in once to check fit.

I have carried old model Centennials for decades. Berns Martin in winter, Galco in summer. My son just talked me out of all 3 so I am resupplying. Best thing I can say is: with this holster you will carry your gun!

Not much to really say other than if you want a quality leather holster buy a Galco. The fit and finish is top notch. Retention after break in is great. Only downside is that it is a paddle holster which I do like but with a heavy gun like the 686 plus delux it is quite heavy and wants to cant out a bit which is mitigated by tightening my belt a little more. Make sure you follow Galco’s break in instructions so you don’t stretch your holster too much or not enough.

Perfect fit for the gun and on my hip. Does not print badly , though best with jacket for me because my grips are not low profile. With the standard smaller grip on the J frame it is t shirt ready. Pistol fit is snug enough for retention yet easy enough to draw. Paddle is comfortable for long term wear and maintains a positive grab on belt line. Galco quality at a great price. Thank you.
