Most Helpful Positive Review Actually freakin works
As an leo and prior mil I have been fortunate enough to test a very wide variety of products. It is rare that you run across a product/system that actually works and improves performance. I run a Daniel defense mk18 suppressed and I can truly tell you that this works. Reduces recoil, no gas in the f...

Most Helpful Negative Review Constant failures
From the start this bolt had issues. Failure to feed, failure to cycle, failure to eject, etc. Started with 300blk suppressed on the suppressed setting and got repetitive failure to eject. Switched it to unsuppressed and got the same. Took off suppressor, adjusted gas block, you name it and this thi...

Mitigates gas blowback and reduces felt recoil noticeably

by Jonathon T, from CA, United States Written on December 16, 2022
Right off the bat I really like the box it comes in for some reason. The design of the bcg is not much different than any other standard bcg besides the notch to switch it from suppressed to unsuppressed obviously. It does a good job of mitigating gas blowback to the face and helps a little with the recoil as well. It was between the Gemtech and the Bootleg inc bcg and to be honest I went with Gemtech for no reason other than me not liking the name “Bootleg”. I’m sure the Bootleg inc bcg is just as good if not better, it also has 4 different settings and can be adjusted without having to take it out of your upper receiver whereas with the Gemtech you have to remove it from the upper to switch between suppressed and unsuppressed. Nevertheless I went with Gemtech and it has been working great, I like it allot.
Pros:
  • Reduces recoil
  • Mitigates gas to the face with suppression
Cons:
  • No cons - in my opinion!
Best Used for:
  • Whisper Pickles

Taming the dragon

by Wendell Sawyer, Verified Owner from OH, United States Written on January 16, 2022
If you didn’t notice this is just the bolt carrier. Nothing else you need is included with the exception of a firing pin retaining pin (the Cotter key). The carrier is a full auto M-16 pattern with a selector for suppressed/unsuppressed on the left hand side. I know some have may take issue with that set-up, but for me it’s not.

So what is this? It’s a solution to the issues DI guns have running suppressors. IE putting all that excess gas in your face. So does it help. It absolutely does. I’ve heard that it also helps with recoil, personally I’m not that good of a shooter to notice. However one thing I did notice was less gas in my face throughout my range session. Now I have this combined with a Radian Raptor SD charging handle so that may have some impact on my experience as well.

Excellent functionality 110%. You will buy want to buy another one after the first shot. I will take ten more thank you. No more gas in your eyes, dirty receiver or mags. Get two or three if you run suppressed.

  • Design

Great bolt carrier

by Nate, from WA, United States Written on July 11, 2019
Very easy to install and adjust from suppressed to non-suppressed. Must have for suppressed AR-15 owners. I swapped the firing pin from my other bolt carrier. I didnt use the cutter pin it came with because it was open at the end and I couldn't get it in the hole.
Pros:
  • Easy to install
Cons:
  • None

Exceptional Quality and Finish

by Steve, from TX, United States Written on June 5, 2019
Wanted this product for quite some time. It will be used both on 300 Blk (supersonic and subsonic) and 223 (suppressed) rifles. Originally built an upper to add to existing lower. Lower came along.....so building 300 BLk dedicated entire gun. Subsonic 300 Blk requires the bolt to be turned “off”.
Pros:
  • Drop in adjustability
Cons:
  • Perhaps Price
Best Used for:
  • Suppressed Guns
Would recommend: Yes

Great tool, expensive

by Jon, Verified Owner from MN, United States Written on February 28, 2018
This is an outstanding device that virtually eliminates the need for an adjustable gas block on a 556 when adding or removing a suppressor. It vents gas out the side so less force is imparted on the bolt reducing the travel speed. What it doesnt mention is that with 300BLK it doesnt function reliably in the suppressed setting but it works fine as a normal bolt. Lost one star for the high price
Pros:
  • Suppressed 556 shooting
Cons:
  • price
Best Used for:
  • 556 rifles without adjustable gas blocks

Excellent Product

by DD, from LA, United States Written on November 12, 2017
So glad I found this. It offers more options and a lot simpler. Instead of having to break my SBR down to had an adjustable switch, I simply changed bolts. I really like the fact at the turn of a switch I can use the bolt immediately in another rifle.

Highest quality BCG I've used

by T-Time, Verified Owner from UT, United States Written on May 17, 2017
This bolt carrier group is really slick. The 2 settings (normal and suppressed) are easy to switch between and function flawlessly. I have used Yankee Hill Machine, BCM, and your run of the mill Bushmaster but this one takes the cake easily! The suppressor setting does a great job of reducing the gas that gets blown back into your face. I would highly suggest this especially if you plan on suppressing your AR.
Pros:
  • durable
  • High quality
  • Affordable
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Suppressed ARs

Gem tech bolt

by Pete, from FL, United States Written on May 6, 2017
The gemtech bolt works as advertised. Ejects the casings at the 3 o'clock position when in the suppressed setting. Usually there is lots of gas hitting u in the face when shooting with a silencer, not with this bolt!!! Had no issues at all. I highly recommend it.
