This is the best ak side mount for the money. The clamp is out of the way and the rail is just above the dust cover, and it’s rock solid. Also easy to adjust. The rail is picatinny - I never understood why others make any kind of rail other than the picatinny pattern(?).

I have an American made IO AK-47. It comes with rails on the front but those are waaaaaaaaay far away from where my cheek is resting. Enter the AK Quick Detach Scope Mount. So here's the instructions: lift up the lever (some adjustment may be required using the included hex wrench). Place on the side and line up where you want (it slides on). Close the lever. Done. If you've adjusted it right, it's locked into place and isn't going to move. Now you have a rail in a much better spot. Attach optic of choice and you're set.
This hunk of metal may seem a bit pricey (although there are constant coupon codes for Optics Planet so you shouldn't have to pay full price, I sure didn't), but it's absolutely worth it. And let's be serious: it looks awesome. Functional and awesome in one package makes it a must have.
Please note: Since the iron sights of an AK-47 are low profile, you probably aren't going to get an absolute cowitness setup using this. The nice thing is, lift the lever and pull it off and you've got your iron sights (provided you properly sighted them in, otherwise, well, good luck). So even if your optic does not have quick detach, the rail itself does. Get ready to dress up that AK!

This is the 3rd AK Mount that I have bought and it is really well made plus it mounts your Scope down on the rifle not 5" in the air like the others I bought. GG&G makes great products but they are expensive. But you get what you pay for.

Once you follow directions and have it adjusted correctly, it
clamps down easily and tightly. After zeroing in, removing and
re installing did not affect zero. Well made and best of all
AMERICAN MADE.

very solid piece, thick metal, precise machining, very ridgid, perfect fit, easy to adjust, locks down tight, perfect height for my 7.62x54R VEPR,This mount has a locking setscrew to lock your adjustment after proper tensioning so the tension does not move after it is set, cheaper mounts dont have this feature so that movement could affect return to zero, this one doesnt move.still waiting on scope rings to shoot,we'll see how well it returns to Zero after detach.Im very impressed so far,but I will write another review after quality time at the range.Im confident its going to be an awesome day.Brent
