Rob the independent semi-liberal moderate's Review of Griffin Armament 55 Degree Ambi Safety Selector Kit

The design and finish are excellent. The edges are nicely rounded, but the shape still gives good purchase when operating the safety. The off-hand lever is short enough it is out of the way when on fire. The overtravel screw, per instructions, is not guaranteed to work with anything but a standard, 1-stage mil-spec trigger. I, however, have this in a lower with a LaRue MBT-2, and with a little grinding to shorten the set screw, I was able to use it to limit over travel for the MBT-2. The operation of the safety is smooth, and it positively clicks into fire/safe. I personally prefer a shorter throw than 90°, and 55° is the shortest I've used. Personally I'm happy with a 60° throw, but as a note, Griffin claims this is the shortest possible throw while maintaining a functional safety.

The set screw is much easier to use with a mil-spec 1 stage trigger, but with a file and some patience it's easy to achieve functionality with much more than that. Just remember to do proper trigger safety checks after any over-travel adjustments!
Pros:
  • good safety
  • overtravel limit screw
Cons:
  • None
