I wanted an inexpensive tactical-style light with a thumb switch; this seemed to fit the bill, so I ordered two, one as a gift. Size/'handiness', quality of construction and brightness exceeded expectations. The gift light was extraordinarily well-received - will order more.
Most Helpful Negative Review Default switch
The back switch on this flashlight did not operate. The switching mechanism did not engage. I had to put a piece of aluminum foil under the cap to get to to operate with the side switch only. Poor design. Not happy about that. The other that was bought with it operated properly

Great Light! Dependable. Durable!

I've been using this light for a number of years. Very bright, very visible probably due to broad spectrum of light it puts out. Am very happy with this light. Puts out more light than my "1,000 lumen" tactical lights. Very usable for sniping distances of up to 70 to 80 yards, gets a little faint at 100 yards, we're talking clear vision through rifle scope. Great light for the price. Will not let you down.

Guard Dog Security Xcess 550 Lumen

Light seems good quality, has some heft, cost 26.00 with recharger and battery. Advertised lumen seems optimistic. I compared it to my 275 lumen streamlight, and it was brighter, but it did not seem to be twice as bright. Did not check waterproof claim, but if it leaks it looks like the lense face would be the weak spot.
Intial charge on battery took a overnight. Instructions say not to leave battery in charger for more than 24 hrs.
Pros:
  • reasonable cost
  • Metal housing seems solid
  • Rechargeable using available battery.
  • Not too small, and not oversized
  • Best to carry in jacket pocket a little large for pant pocket carry.
Cons:
  • Maybe not as bright as advertised
  • No roll stop (flat spot) on housing.
  • It would be better is a spare battery were available since this is not a charge in place design.
Best Used for:
  • Emergency light
  • Everyday light for toolbox
