I am doing a few modifications to my Diamondback AR-15. With my CMC Straight trigger, I needed a bit more room below the trigger. The mil spec flat piece of steel that came with my rifle is boring looking and not a whole lot of extra room.
I'm going to preface this review with a quick remark about the 1-STAR review I saw a guy from Ohio leave. He said that the trigger guard blocked his Magazine reservoir and was not functional and not to buy it. The only thing I can think regarding this review was that he put it in backwards. This trigger-guard will most definitely block the magazine area if it was put in backwards. OK....I digress....
I didn't want something too fancy like those crazy cobra-hood looking guards. This one looked like it would be functional, more space and with the "circles" machined into it, it looked really kinda cool. I got the black one. I watched a youtube video on replacing it first and glad I did as it gave some helpful tips on making sure that the "dog ear" is supported fully underneath the area you are pounding on as you punch out the roll steel pin. Seeing a ruined receiver on his video convinced me taking my time was of utmost importance with this "small" project. I already replaced the mil spec trigger with a drop-in trigger and I felt like a superstar after that, and this trigger guard felt a bit more important.
