I purchased 3 of these units and 1 of the SVB 500 units because we have guns and small grandchildren. I set them up per the instruction manual and had my one year old grandson try and open it, guess what? he opened it right up. I contacted this site for fear that maybe I had set them up incorrectly, I left several messages and NO ONE called me back or contacted me back in any way. I wished I would not have thrown all the boxes away as I would send them back. Please do not buy these with hopes of keeping your family safe, they do not work. There could be a tragic outcome and a real liability issue.

The first safe I purchased would not unlock without the key. I could successfully register my fingerprints, and swiping the fingerprint reader would cause the "beep" to sound, the green LED to light, and the locking motor to grown. But it would not open.

Two customer "support" lackeys tried to convince me that I needed a better 9V battery. Eventually they shipped a replacement safe.

The same exact batter worked fine with the replacement safe.

Unfortunately, the replacement safe has the opposite problem of the original safe; it will not LOCK consistently.

This vault recognized my fingerprint a couple of times then quit recognition although my husband's fingerprint is recognized almost immediately every time. Don't know it it's my small finger that causes the issue or what.
Cons: Learning and recognizing fingerprints is not as easy as it should be.

great safe for the money- like the fact that you can have several fingerprints loaded for use.

This GunVault MVB1000 Biometric Safe is very rugged and built with high quality components. The security cable is a nice option to have when attaching it to a anchor point in your vehicle. Having dual entry options is nice to have for back-up purposes. The only difficultly I experienced was when I had to register my fingerprint with the biometic reader. The first time I registered it, it did not appear that my finger was flat, thus, it took me 3 to 4 fingerprint swipes to open the safe. When I re-registered for a 2nd time, I kept my finger flat through the entire process and now the MVB1000 opens up on the first swipe. One suggestion that I have if you intend to keep it close to your bed and in a locked position, make sure you store it in a position or same plane as the swiping action with your registered finger. If not, you may have to swipe it a few times to gain access and this may reduce your reaction time to establish a self-defensive position with your pistol or revolver. Great security safe.
