Failed to function reliably
I was hesitant to purchase hogue grip after reading so many negative reviews regarding contact switch not engaging consistently. I had hoped the problem was resolved and my experience would be different, unfortunately that was not the case and I returned it immediately. Optics planet has a long ret...

I returned a Crimson Trace unit (too small and hard) before buying this which I am keeping. The lasers are about the same between the two, nice in the shade and at night, useless outside in bright sunlight.
The guts of this unit mounts to the frame and does not move when you remove the rubber grip to change the battery. The rubber grip itself is a nice size fitting three fingers and is soft enough to grab.

Great Laser Sight for SW J Frame
I got this grip to add a laser to my Chay frame Smith and Wesson revolver. One of the nice features of this particular grip, is that it’s a bit larger so it better fits your hand when you need it. The impairment to concealment is manageable since this gun is already quite small and lightweight. I previously had a smaller laser grip made by another manufacturer and although it’s concealment was great, the grip was just too small for the measure of confidence I’m comfortable with.
Pros:
- High quality
- great value for the price
- has laser
- fits the hand, confident grip
Cons:
- Not as easy to conceal as a tiny grip
Best Used for:
- Home defense
- Conceal and carry

Easy peazy
I'm a 63 year old woman with no firearms repair experience and this install took me about 15 minutes. Look, if I can do this you can too. I highly recommend Hogue laser grips over Crimson Trace. High quaint at less cost.

Same complaint activation button not engaging
It's good as a confirmation that your iron sights are on however not practical as I had to use my fingertip to engage it. Hopefully it will break in and allow a normal grip to activate. The rubber is better than the hard plastic of the Crimson Trace. Goin to try a tapering a tab battery over the activation button

No holsters fit
If you are the proud owner of a J-frame revolver, you are most likely interested in concealed carry, like me. This grip itself is a bit larger than the stock grips, which is undesirable for me. I feel that it takes away from the J-frame's most desirable feature; it's small size. There are very few holsters on the market that work for this grip, and zero kydex holsters for IWB carry. I even contacted Hogue and they informed me that all of their holsters are OWB. I bought this trying to save money and not by the Crimson Trace grip, but it was a waste of time and money. Will be buying a crimson trace today.

laser doesn't come on all the time
You have to have your grip in a certain way or the laser doesnt come on. My Crimson trace doesn't have that problem. The grip to get the laser to come on for me was not comfortable or really safe for me.

Grip has low ergonomics
Grip went on easily and appears to be made from quality materials; however, something about the shape of the grip and/or the nature of the laser switch under the middle finger prevents me from activating the laser while I’m gripping the pistol. To get the light to come one, I have to alter my grip so that the middle finger is not gripping the pistol at all but is curled up so that only the tip of the finger touches the grip, then I can depress the buttons and activate the light.
Obviously this situation leaves a very poor strong hand grip.

Pros:
- Laser spot is very bright
Cons:
- Ergonomics make the grip almost unusable for me

- Closet decoration

laser grip
its a great product but its a bit small and i have trouble getting the laser to activate i have very large hands and my fingers are large and dont fit down into the grooves so if you have large fingers you might want to go another way its well built but it does not work well for me great price
Pros:
- Price Construction
Cons:
- to small for my big hands
Best Used for:
- Self and home defense pistol accessories

Avoid this grip
The actuator button under your finger on the grip is too difficult to depress, making the laser impossible to use. Very poor design and definitely not worth buying. Compared with a Crimson Trace grip it's less expensive but if it doesn't work, why bother?

Good grip, laser needs work
Love the soft rubber grip, but it's too hard to activate the laser. I had to alter my grip and even then it was hit or miss. There should be a manual "always on" switch, otherwise it's not worth trusting your life to something that MIGHT work at the time you need it most.
