Most Helpful Positive Review Holosun 530
I was looking for a great optic and, like most everyone else, considered the Eotech and Trijicon the absolute best on the market. I wanted the best, but money (like a lot of people) dictate gear purchase. I scoured the net for reviews of just about every optic made that I considered to fit my needs ...

Most Helpful Negative Review Good design, bad execution
I was excited about this red dot, and heard only good things about the holosun optics. I put it on my rifle and was super excited, and it worked for about a week, then suddenly shut off and wouldn’t turn back on. I messed with the battery and tried everything I could, but the optic just died in my h...

I have a few of these HE530 sights

by Mike, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on March 8, 2025
As noted, I have a few of these, and yeah, just bought another. More green than red. Some are of the older design without the solar panels on the top.
To me, one of the best sights that Holosun (or anyone else) makes.
Yes...I have astigmatism. BUT, three things,
1 - Holosun does a very good job of helping us out. While still not a perfect "round" dot, if you DON'T...concentrate on the dot, I've learned that the dot's shape...is of LITTLE concern.
2 - The "Elite" version, being made of Titanium, is almost impervious to damage. A few YouTube videos, show this thing taking a LOT of abuse, and living through it with flying colors.
3 - I've learned to live with the dot shape that we with astigmatism see. If you keep the color intensity turned down, and DON"T...concentrate on the dot...over the actual target, they work pretty well.

Mike
Pros:
  • long battery life
  • easily adjustable
  • Tough, VERY tough
Cons:
  • A little expensive, (but worth every penny)
Best Used for:
  • Finding your target
  • Works well with magnifier

Built like a tank!

by Rjtom, from CA, United States Written on September 17, 2024
The titanium housing is really an over kill but is extremely nice. The shake awake feature with auto reticle intensity to the rooms ambient light is a feature I wish I had on all my dot sights. The circle dot reticle or just the 2 moa dot gives you great options. I prefer the circle dot on my HK SP89. Acquisition is quick with the correct intensity for any light conditions. Overall you cannot go wrong with this purchase!

He530c sight, well worth the money

by Mike, from CA, United States Written on June 1, 2022
I've got one He530c and two He530G's, and am thinking about buying another "c" model.
Being made of Titanium, they are about as indestructible as you can get for the body construction. I've got both the red and green version, but prefer the green reticle.
I also like the 30mm dia. lens diameter. I keep thinking of another high grade, tube style sight, but I don't care for the lens only being 20mm in dia. I just prefer the larger sight picture.
The dot shape is about as round as I've seen that people with astigmatism can see. There are MANY not as round for us folks with lousy eye sight ! The "kill flash" piece is a very nice offering if you need it. The "quick Detach" lock has two square lugs and the cross bolt to hold it solidly in place on your rail. That's three means of security solid. The lowest dot brightness setting is very low, so using it in low light conditions is VERY easy. No blown out dots, because of being too bright. The brighter dot setting is also great for outdoor, sunny days.
As far as "dot" sights go, it's VERY difficult to beat this sight.
Ok, so. do I buy another "c" model ?
Pros:
  • very tough construction
  • Highly adjustable brightness settings
  • Solid connection to the rail
Cons:
  • A little expensive
Best Used for:
  • shooting

Great optic, bad mount

by Evan Bullock, Verified Owner from IN, United States Written on September 25, 2020
This optic is built like a tank and works great, plus looks and feels like a high quality optic. My only gripe is the mounting system, this red dot uses a QD mount, but it doesn’t work at all. I had to purchase an Aimpoint mount because the original one wouldn’t hold zero, and I couldn’t get it tight and I tired about everything. I recommend the optic, but don’t trust the QD mount whatsoever, replace it the first chance you get.
Pros:
  • good quality
  • Solar panel
  • Multi-Reticle
Cons:
  • mounting system
Best Used for:
  • Boogaloo
  • Heavy use

Update to my review on website confusion

by Tom D Harry, Verified Owner from VA, United States Written on July 21, 2020
I talked to a rep from holosun and this optic is definitely supposed to be an absolute co-witness optic. They said the dimensions on the Holosun website are wrong and need to be changed. Also if this is your first red dot, I’d recommend buying a really cheap one first, because of this optic I’ve found out I have an astigmatism. Looks like 5 or 6 tiny dots grouped tight together to me and my vision is perfect, never had to wear glasses ever. I had a cheap one and just thought it was poorly made, but I found out it’s definitely not the optic after doing a little research

Holosun website confusing

by Tom D Harry, Verified Owner from VA, United States Written on July 21, 2020
The one I got from optics planet is absolute co-witness, and I measured it at 1.4in same as my Troy buis. Holosuns website says it’s absolute but give it 1.63 in which 1/3 dimensions. Wish I could post the picture of the contradiction

Great quality rugged optic!

by Chris H., Verified Owner from MO, United States Written on December 7, 2019
I use this in a law enforcement capacity. Really fast target acquisition and great field of view. The optic has to be tough as it gets rattled and banged around in the rifle rack. It has held up with several hundred rounds and kept its zero. Its mounted on a custom built AR with only light-weight high-quality parts because ounces is pounds when you have to carry it all day. Will be buying another one for my pistol build as it exceeded my expectations!
