Most Helpful Positive Review Red dot 403C
I like every feature on this sight. The solar panel and battery life is what sold me on this product. The brightness settings on the targeting dot is easy to use and ultra bright. It is very cost effective.
Most Helpful Negative Review Holosun hs402c hardware sucks
The mechanism for attachment of the optic that attaches to your Picatinny or weaver rail breaks when clamped down. After a few minutes on my rifle just sitting on the rail of my rifle while the rifle was being held the optic flies off. The cheap aluminum broke causing the optic to fall off the rai...

Good optic for the price, awesome customer service!

by Patrick Wilson, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on November 16, 2020
So I really like this optic. I have had it for about 2 years now and it lives on my KS47. The mount came loose (could have been my fault) and when I went to tighten it up and relatch the QD lever it broke a pin. I emailed Holosun and they just asked for was a picture of the SN, Model and where I bought it. In less than a week I had a whole new mount free of charge! I was totally expecting to spend $30-$40 on a mount. Very pleased with the customer service!
Pros:
  • Customer service
  • Shake awake
  • Low budget
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • That's up to you

Great for the money

by Patrick Wilson, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on April 18, 2020
Great red dot, very clear. It does have a shake awake feature but unlike the more modern models it can only be set between 2-12 hours. The modern models turn off around 10-15 minutes. But the optic has a very large viewing window and great battery life. The flip up caps open completely and sharply. I bought the one with the solar feature and it functions very differently from this one. I really didn't like the function compared to this one so much I sent it back. Just FYI.
Pros:
  • great battery life
  • Right price
  • Shake awake
  • Large viewing window
Cons:
  • 2 hours before auto turn off
Best Used for:
  • Budget red dot

Good solid optic.

by Trapper John, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on January 31, 2020
Needless to say I am very impressed with the performance of this optic. I mounted mine on an AR platform chambered for .458SOCOM. It stood up to the heavy recoil of the .458....No problem. It never lost zero.I bought the HS402C model. The one with the solar panel. While shooting at my local indoor range, the battery tray popped out. I didn't tighten the screws (my mistake) Even with no battery in it and with only the range lights, I still had a usable red dot to keep shooting accurately, just from the power of the solar panel output.
Pros:
  • Stays accurate with heavy recoil calibers
Cons:
  • Battery tray pops out when not properly secured.
Best Used for:
  • quick, accurate shooting out to 100 yds.

Great sight

by Raiderdog1, from TX, United States Written on January 14, 2020
I have only good things to say about this red dot sight, I put it on a 450 bushmaster and it works great. It’s dead on and after quite a few shots it has never budged. So far shot at two pigs and they are both gonners. Sight is very clear and red dot does not blur or get fuzzy, it’s a good one

402d more than i expected

by j321, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on May 10, 2019
The HS402d is awesome. Over built and very easy to use. If you are trying to go light it's not my first choice. I have a 503 for a pistol build. This is on a 16" barreled 9mm carbine. The dot is very crisp and clear even in full sunlight. Its built like a tank and the mount is easy to adjust to make it very solid. It was what I hoped it would be.
Pros:
  • Price
  • rugged
  • Clear
  • Easy to use & operate
Cons:
  • it might be heavy for some
Best Used for:
  • AR platfrorm 15
  • Any carbine

Great sight for the sale price

by fuct, Verified Owner from MI, United States Written on April 30, 2019
Easy to use, set the auto off and timed it, dot went off, lightly tapped the unit and it came right back on. QD lever is stiff at first but easy to use. It picks up a bit of glare facing the sun but the dot is still plenty bright. Overall a great piece for the price.

Great red dot

by Rtf23, from MI, United States Written on April 21, 2019
This was my first Holosun purchase. I could not pass up the price offered by optics planet along with all the features of this Holosun. I really love the auto off/on feature. I set mine to turn off after 2 hours and at first I thought this feature wasn’t working but it’s just ultra sensitive. As soon as you pick up your firearm it turns back on.
Pros:
  • Low cost, bright, auto on/off
Cons:
  • size
Best Used for:
  • ar15 platform

Mountainhigh

by Mountainhigh, from CA, United States Written on March 19, 2019
I own both models of the HS402 standard and Solar. The only complaint is the battery cover screws are 1mm to short and they didn’t extend the arms on the cover when they changed the O Rings to a gasket. I called them and they didn’t have a fix. I had to go to ACE Hardware to get longer screws.

crisp dot good glass solid mount price

by rockie, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on January 28, 2019
Crisp dot, good glass, fit and finish, Price was excellent, shipping was at my door 3 days after it shipped. I have an astigmatism is my right (shooting) eye and this 402d is crips in all settings. Okay max (12) might be too much for low light that’s a given. I pick up the dot very fast, I’ve experienced zero parallax past 10 meters. Th Qd Mount is Solid holds zero. Comes with a nice padded case with extra battery door, hex bit and took for adjustments and or removal of the battery door also front and rear flip caps with positive locking seal.

It’s now 2 oz lightweight micro specs ops dot. But it’s 99% marine proof. The shake awake feature is nice. It can be turned on our off. If you turn the setting off (pressing +-) and go to turn the optic on its instantaneous and remembers the last setting. Finish is great. If your not a fan of the tall small red dots and just want a little more robust different look. Get it it’s a great optic at an affordable price.

I wish I could upload pictures I have it mounted on a DDMK18 socom upper well all know looking good is hard the battle and the ratio of 10.3” barrel and Sba3 brace its visually appealing.

10 stars great optic great price great company!

Great for AR Carbine

by MaddogDD, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on October 14, 2018
I use this sight in IDPA Pistol Caliber Carbine - PCC. It zeroed easily, has adjustable brightness on the red dot, comes on as soon as you move the carbine, and includes a mount and built in flip-up lens caps. I am very pleased at the value for the dollar on this scope.
Pros:
  • Price
  • Ease of installation and Zero.
