i did a 3 way buy of .300Bo ammo for hunting, all 3 were shot from a 'PSA 16" 1/8 twist barrel', here's my results at 100yd: 1.Barnes Vor-Tx 110gr TAC-TX FB #21548 - [most accurate, sub MOA] 2.Hornady BLACK 110Gr V-MAX #80873 - [a bit less than accurate than TAC, at 1 MOA] 3.Sig Elite 120gr OTM #E300H1-20 - [least accurate, at +1 MOA]

Consistently the most accurate 300blk ammo ive used

by C H, Verified Owner from OH, United States Written on June 13, 2025
It’s not the cheapest around, though you can catch good deals here. But, this stuff is the most accurate factory ammo you can probably buy for your 300blk. Unless you’re specifically looking for cheap plinking ammo or a big game ammo, this stuff has you covered.
Pros:
  • Accurate
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • varmint and precision

Pros:

Cons:
  • Expensive (but worth it)

  • Varmint

Fun varmint buster

by ARs are my life, Verified Owner from OH, United States Written on April 17, 2025
Bought this ammo to try a new round for pest control. 110 gr with a Vmax tip. I know it seems a little big, but I'm not buying a dedicated rifle to exterminate some coons and ground hogs when I have a 300 blackout and a 5.56 that will absolutely do the job. 5.56 works great but leaves a nasty mess, which attracts in buzzards and other critters, that cause more problems. This 300 BO 110 gr round eliminated the big mess and gave me another purpose to use my 300 blackout. Again, I know a 17 HMR will do the job, but i would have to go buy one. I tried a 5.56 and it was like shooting a balloon filled with pink glitter, and stank up the joint for weeks. This 300 Blackout round drilled a hole, petaled out, and put the varmint down cleanly and immediately. I will be going this route from now on.
Pros:
  • Clean extermination, no mess, great bullet
Cons:
  • 300 BLACKOUT has a short range
Best Used for:
  • Home invader, varmint

Works good in carbine. Does not cycle with shorter barrels

by Zachary Weaver, from TX, United States Written on December 9, 2023
This is certainly my favorite projectile & load for my 16" .300blk. Cycles properly, good ballistics and I generally get 1 MOA +/-. I've dropped many hogs with this round. Unfortunately in my 10.5" barrel (pistol length gas, unsuppressed), these will not cycle the gun, the projectile is too light and exiting the barrel so fast that there is not enough dwell time on the gas to cycle the gun. All 120grain loads and up cycle excellently, 115grains will short stroke sometimes and 110 grains do not cycle at all. So just keep that in mind. I'm sure with a suppressor there would be enough back pressure to cycle.
Pros:
  • Great for 16"
Cons:
  • Does not cycle with shorter barrels
Best Used for:
  • hunting

Clean and Accurate

by Matthew MOSS, Verified Owner from VA, United States Written on August 12, 2023
After reading numerous online reviews of this product on similar platforms, I purchased the Hornady Black 114gr ammo for a deticated supersonic, supressed 300BK. The ammo arrived clean and in excellent condition. I ran 60 rnds at the range with zero failures to fire. Shot groups measured 1 MOA at 100 yards from a 16" barrel. Happy with the results and will continue to run this ammo thru this platform.
